On January 4, Professor Ma Lulin, a leading figure in the national urology field and former director of the Department of Urology at Peking University Third Hospital, arrived at the Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital to routinely provide clinical technical guidance and special outpatient services. Adopting the model of "full-cycle residency + precision diagnosis and treatment," he provides core support for the high-quality development of the center's radiotherapy discipline and the leapfrog improvement of clinical service levels, effectively demonstrating our hospital's new pattern of high-quality medical services characterized by "localization of high-end medical resources and routinization of chief expert services."

Professor Ma Lulin, a Peking University Second-class Professor, doctoral supervisor, and postdoctoral co-supervisor, has been deeply engaged in the field of urology for nearly forty years. Currently serving as the Vice President of the Haidian Branch of Peking University Third Hospital, he is an authoritative expert in domestic kidney transplantation and complex urinary system tumor diagnosis and treatment. His expertise in living-related kidney transplantation and combined pancreas-kidney transplantation has reached international advanced levels. He has profound skills in complex surgeries such as robot-assisted/laparoscopic resection of large adrenal tumors, radical nephrectomy for renal cell carcinoma with inferior vena cava tumor thrombus, nerve-sparing radical prostatectomy, and Studer orthotopic bladder reconstruction, having relieved the suffering of tens of thousands of patients and enjoying an extremely high reputation within the industry.

During ward rounds, Professor Ma Lulin led the Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center medical team deep into the wards, checking each patient's condition one by one. After listening in detail to reports from the attending physicians regarding patient conditions, treatment progress, and examination results, he conducted careful physical examinations for each patient. For complex cases, drawing on his rich clinical experience and the latest diagnostic and treatment advances, he provided a series of professional and precise guidance through hands-on teaching, covering treatment plan optimization, complication management, and rehabilitation guidance, thus charting the course for subsequent patient treatment.

In recent years, Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital has achieved significant results in promoting the heavy ion treatment alliance and the establishment of 50 expert workstations. As the only hospital in the world simultaneously operating two heavy ion treatment systems, Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital is always committed to the continuous development and innovation of tumor treatment technologies. The Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center is the second heavy ion clinical application center operated by Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital utilizing China's independent intellectual property. This system was put into clinical operation at the Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center on November 15, 2024. To date, the center has completed photon and heavy ion treatment for over 400 patients, covering disease types such as lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, and brain glioma.
