Esophageal cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors worldwide, and China is a high-incidence region. According to 2015 estimates of cancer epidemiology in China, there were approximately 246,000 new cases and 188,000 deaths from esophageal cancer annually, ranking it as the sixth leading cause of cancer incidence and the fourth leading cause of cancer mortality. In China, known risk factors for esophageal cancer are closely linked to dietary habits and lifestyle, including consumption of very hot foods and beverages, alcohol drinking, and smoking.
