Hydrogel Spacer-Assisted Heavy Ion Radiotherapy for Sacrococcygeal Chordoma

Introduction to the technique of hydrogel implantation in the presacral space under CT guidance to isolate the rectum, facilitating heavy ion radiotherapy for sacrococcygeal chordomas. This minimally invasive approach utilizes an absorbable hydrogel to physically displace the rectum, significantly reducing the maximum radiation dose to the rectum (from 67 Gy to 25 Gy). It ensures delivery of curative radiation doses while effectively preventing radiation-induced proctitis, thereby providing a safe radiotherapy opportunity for complex cases.
