International Training Course on China's Carbon‑Ion Therapy System – First Announcement

To promote the advancement and development of ion radiotherapy in China and to strengthen the exchange and sharing of clinical and radiophysical research experience, the "International Symposium on Clinical Application of China's Carbon‑Ion Therapy System, Advanced Training Course on Clinical Application of Carbon‑Ion Therapy System, and International Training Course on Clinical Application of China's Carbon‑Ion Therapy System (Third Session)," hosted by Wuwei Cancer Hospital, Gansu Province, are scheduled to be held from September 16 to September 20, 2026, in Wuwei.

The Heavy Ion Center of Wuwei Cancer Hospital, Gansu Province, is the first facility to apply China's domestically developed carbon‑ion therapy system with independent intellectual property rights. Since construction began in March 2012, the center's team has worked with perseverance and dedication, accumulating extensive experience in heavy ion facility development, clinical application, and operational management. To date, the center has treated over 3,000 patients from both domestic and international sources. In terms of clinical application, technological development, annual patient throughput, treatment of major tumor types, and clinical outcomes, the center has achieved a level comparable to that of leading international institutions in the field.

The training course will feature lectures delivered by international experts from Japan, Germany, Singapore, and other countries, combining classroom learning with site visits and hands‑on practical sessions. Participants who complete the full course and pass the final assessment will be awarded 5 credits under the National Continuing Education Program (Project No.: 2026‑09‑03‑431 (National)) and will receive a certificate of completion for the International Training Course on Clinical Application of China's Carbon‑Ion Therapy System.
