Preview of the Visit to Gulang County People's Hospital

      To align with the World Health Organization's goal of "eliminating viral hepatitis as a major public health threat by 2030", and to further enhance liver disease diagnosis and treatment capabilities—particularly at the county level and below—our city is taking proactive steps to raise public awareness, strengthen screening, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up protocols, and advance the development of liver and infectious disease management technologies. To meet the growing medical needs of patients, the Wuwei Medical Academy Hepatobiliary Center will host a "Experts to the Frontlines: Volunteer Service Initiative" on March 22, 2025, at Gulang County People's Hospital.

      This event, part of the "Famous Doctors Deliver Health" volunteer service demonstration project, will feature:  Training Workshops: Focused on improving primary care liver disease management skills，Large-Scale Free Clinic: Offering on-site consultations and health screenings.

The Hepatobiliary Center of Wuwei Medical Science Academy is currently a national demonstration base for the prevention and treatment technology of hepatobiliary diseases. It can comprehensively carry out clinical and scientific research work in the field of hepatobiliary diseases, such as liver protection, antiviral treatment, artificial liver treatment, surgical operations, interventional therapy, minimally invasive procedures, iodine seed implantation, targeted immunotherapy, cellular immunotherapy, and stem cell transplantation. It is one of the few single-disease centers in China that can perfectly achieve comprehensive diagnosis and treatment and full-process management of hepatobiliary diseases.

The center undertakes a number of real-world research projects and several national people-benefiting projects. It has established a consultation platform for well-known domestic and international experts in treating difficult and severe liver diseases. At the same time, it has also established the first co-management center for diabetes and liver diseases in Gansu Province, benefiting more patients with hepatobiliary diseases, especially those with difficult and severe liver diseases, as well as patients with liver-related metabolic diseases such as diabetes and fatty liver.
