Recently, according to the announcement from the Wuwei Municipal Culture, Sports, Radio, Television, and Tourism Bureau, the China (Wuwei) Heavy Ion Health Town scenic area, developed by Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital, has met the national standards for a 3A-level tourist attraction. It has successfully passed the comprehensive evaluation and has been officially designated as a national 3A-level tourist attraction. This achievement marks a milestone breakthrough in the hospital’s exploration of the integrated development model encompassing “medical care, health preservation, culture, tourism, and research.” It represents a deep integration of cutting-edge medical technology with inclusive health preservation services and the cultural tourism industry, providing a replicable "Wuwei experience" for the development of the national medical and health tourism sector.

As China’s first core health and wellness base centered on heavy ion technology, the town draws on the profound technical expertise of the Wuwei Heavy Ion Center at Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital. Guided by the principle of “integrating cutting-edge medical technology with inclusive health and wellness services,” it promotes industry expansion toward comprehensive, lifelong health care. Spanning a total area of 2,865 acres with a planned construction area of 338,000 square meters, the town has established a full-chain health and wellness service matrix and is advancing toward accreditation as a 4A-level tourist attraction. Leveraging China’s first domestically produced heavy ion treatment system, it has built a “troika” service framework: “10S” sleep therapy, a one-stop “health check + wellness + cultural tourism” service, and comprehensive lifelong health and wellness management. Simultaneously, adhering to the integrated concept of “medical care, wellness, culture, tourism, and research,” the town has developed specialized functional zones and promoted the construction of a cell therapy hospital to bridge medical and wellness services. It has created a diverse residential space capable of accommodating over 600 individuals for therapy and recuperation.
