On March 18, Professor Xu Bo, a leading expert in the field of tumor radiotherapy in China and Chief Physician of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Peking University Cancer Hospital, visited the Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital to conduct ward rounds, provide clinical consultations, and offer academic guidance.

Professor Xu Bo, as a Medical Doctor and Master's Supervisor, has been deeply involved in the field of tumor radiotherapy for decades and is a leading authority in precise tumor radiotherapy in China. He currently holds important academic positions such as Standing Committee Member of the Chinese Medical Association's Radiation Oncology Branch and Member of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association's Radiation Therapy Committee. He has profound expertise in the precise radiotherapy of body tumors, particularly skilled in the comprehensive treatment of lung cancer, breast cancer, esophageal cancer, cervical cancer, malignant lymphoma, etc., with rich clinical experience and exquisite diagnostic and therapeutic skills.

During the ward rounds, Professor Xu Bo consistently maintained a rigorous and meticulous approach to diagnosis and treatment. Going deep into the clinical front line, he carefully assessed each patient's condition, reviewed imaging data, and precisely traced the trajectory of disease progression one by one. Professor Xu Bo's regular visits to our hospital for clinical consultations represent a significant achievement of the Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital in upholding the "patient-centered" service philosophy, continuously promoting the allocation of high-quality medical resources to the grassroots, striving to enhance regional diagnosis and treatment levels, and effectively addressing the practical problems faced by the public, such as "difficulty in accessing distant medical care and challenges in seeing specialists."

As a core base for heavy ion tumor therapy in China, the center, leveraging my country's independently developed heavy ion therapy system, officially commenced clinical operation on November 15, 2024. As of now, the center has successfully completed precise heavy ion and photon therapy for over 450 tumor patients, covering various difficult tumors such as lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, and glioma. The unique technological advantages and significant clinical efficacy of precise heavy ion radiotherapy have been fully validated, bringing new hope for treatment to numerous cancer patients.
