On March 13, Professor Yu Zhilong, a radiotherapy expert from the Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University and the CNNC Heavy Ion Consultation Center, visited the Wuwei Heavy Ion Center to conduct routine guidance work. During his visit, Professor Yu went deep into various radiotherapy departments, participated in ward rounds and discussions on complex cases, and provided on-site guidance on cutting-edge treatment technologies, bringing valuable clinical experience and technical concepts to the center.

Professor Yu Zhilong has dedicated decades to the field of radiation oncology, remaining steadfast in his original aspirations and diligently pursuing excellence. He formerly served as the Director of the Radiotherapy Department at the Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University and continues to work on the clinical front lines as a senior expert, while also serving as a core expert at the CNNC Heavy Ion Consultation Center. He concurrently holds positions as the Founding Chairman of both the Radiation Oncology Branch of the Inner Mongolia Medical Association and the Radiotherapist Branch of the Inner Mongolia Medical Doctor Association, as well as the Director of the Inner Mongolia Radiotherapy Quality Control Center. His accolades include the "First China Bethune-style Good Doctor Nomination Award" and the title of "First Inner Mongolia People's Good Doctor." He is particularly renowned for his expertise in the radiotherapy and comprehensive treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, laryngeal cancer, brain tumors, lung cancer, breast cancer, esophageal cancer, and various urogenital system tumors, and has a distinguished and widely influential reputation in precision radiotherapy techniques such as Gamma Knife.

During his ward rounds, Professor Yu Zhilong conducted an in-depth visit to the patient wards, meticulously reviewing patient conditions and treatment progress. He engaged in thorough discussions with the radiotherapy team. Based on each patient's specific situation, he provided precise and personalized treatment recommendations, while emphasizing that optimal treatment plans require comprehensive consideration of multiple factors, including the patient's physical condition, tumor type, and clinical stage.

This routine guidance visit by Professor Yu Zhilong represents a significant achievement in Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital's efforts to advance the Heavy Ion Therapy Alliance and its 50 Expert Workstations. As the only hospital in the world simultaneously operating two heavy ion therapy systems, Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital remains committed to the continuous development and innovation of cancer treatment technologies. Since the Wuwei Heavy Ion Center officially commenced clinical treatment in March 2020, it has successfully completed treatment for over 2,700 patients with remarkable clinical outcomes.
