Leading Expert Prof. Yang Yiping Joins, Elevating Cancer Care
[National Chief Experts Available Daily] Industry Leader Professor Yang Yiping Joins Our Hospital, Elevating Our Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment to New Heights
On December 30, Professor Yang Yiping, a senior radiotherapy expert from Shaanxi Cancer Hospital, arrived at the Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital to commence regular clinical guidance and special outpatient services. The expert team, driven by the dual approach of "imparting experience through clinical mentoring and benefiting patients with precise treatment," not only injects strong momentum into the high-quality development of the center's radiotherapy discipline but also propels a leap forward in clinical service standards. This vividly exemplifies our hospital's new paradigm of high-quality medical service: "localizing high-end medical resources, with chief experts available for daily consultations."

Professor Yang Yiping has dedicated decades to the field of cancer radiotherapy, holding several key positions including Head of the Radiotherapy Group at the Shaanxi Provincial Cancer Quality Control Center and Director of the Shaanxi Provincial Clinical Medical Research Center for Radiotherapy. She also serves as the Chairperson of multiple academic societies, such as the Radiotherapy Committee of the Shaanxi Anti-Cancer Association. She has accumulated extensive clinical experience in tumor radiotherapy, comprehensive treatment, and concurrent chemoradiotherapy. She is particularly skilled in the precise radiotherapy of head and neck tumors, thoracic tumors, and abdominal tumors, and is widely recognized as an authoritative expert in the field.
During ward rounds, Professor Yang Yiping led the Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center's medical team through the wards, reviewing the condition of each patient. After listening carefully to the primary physicians' reports on patient conditions, treatment progress, and examination results, she conducted detailed physical examinations for each patient, paying particular attention to key aspects such as post-heavy-ion treatment lesion changes and adverse reactions. For complex cases, drawing on her extensive clinical experience and the latest diagnostic and treatment advances, she provided a series of professional and precise guidance through hands-on teaching. This included optimizing treatment plans, managing complications, and offering rehabilitation advice, charting a clear course for the patients' subsequent treatment.

The text also highlights the significant achievements made by Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital in recent years in promoting the Heavy Ion Treatment Alliance and establishing 50 expert workstations. As the only hospital in the world operating two heavy-ion treatment systems simultaneously, Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital remains committed to the continuous development and innovation of cancer treatment technologies. The Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center is the second heavy-ion clinical application center in China operated by the hospital featuring fully independent intellectual property rights. This system commenced clinical operation at the Lanzhou Center on November 15, 2024. To date, the center has completed photon and heavy-ion treatment for over 400 patients, covering conditions such as lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, and glioblastoma.
Professor Yang Yiping's visit and guidance represent another embodiment of the Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center's commitment to the philosophy of "Gathering Global Cutting-Edge Technologies, Providing Relief to Cancer Patients Worldwide." The center not only actively introduces internationally leading heavy-ion treatment technology with an open and inclusive attitude, building bridges for transnational academic exchange and engaging in deep technical dialogue and experience sharing with top experts from countries like Japan and Germany, but also, with a pragmatic and dedicated spirit, vigorously introduces domestic authoritative clinical expert resources. Through regular ward round guidance and personalized consultation services, it promotes the standardization of clinical practice and the homogenization of diagnosis and treatment levels. It continuously deepens the connotative development of the discipline, lighting the lamp of hope for cancer patients.
