Ushering in a New Era of Medical Collaboration: The Operational Launch of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Building at Wuwei Cancer Hospital's Central Campus
On September 26, the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) building at the Central Campus of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital was officially opened. This milestone not only signifies a leap forward in the hospital's capabilities to provide TCM services but also, through its innovative integration of heavy ion technology with traditional Chinese medicine, pioneers a new pathway for the synergistic development of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine.

The launching ceremony was presided over by Vice President Cai Qinghua. President Ye Yancheng, accompanied by the hospital’s leadership team, attended the event, joining over 100 staff representatives to witness this milestone moment.
At the ceremony, President Ye clarified the strategic positioning of the new Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Building in his address. He emphasized that the building’s commissioning represents a critical implementation of the hospital’s commitment to the principle of "placing equal emphasis on traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine." Looking ahead, the hospital will leverage this platform to deeply advance synergistic innovation between cutting-edge heavy ion technology and the time-honored wisdom of TCM. Through the organic integration of these two domains, it aims to optimize cancer treatment protocols, enabling cutting-edge technology and traditional medicine to jointly empower the health and well-being of cancer patients.
Subsequently, Su Anping, the President’s Assistant, provided a detailed introduction to the TCM Building’s departmental layout and service planning. From the perspectives of clinical workflows, the setup of specialized departments, and other key dimensions, he concretely illustrated how the facility fulfills its core mission of "integrated TCM-Western medicine cancer treatment."

In the presence of all attendees, President Ye Yancheng declared, "The Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Rehabilitation Building of Wuwei Cancer Hospital & Gansu Wuwei Academy of Medical and Science is now officially commencing clinical operations."
Immediately following the announcement, the participating guests embarked on an in-depth tour of the TCM Building’s interior. They focused on examining the functional layouts and specialized services of key departments, including the Department of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine and the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. Guests unanimously spoke highly of the hospital’s achievements in planning and constructing this facility, particularly its advancements in the field of integrated TCM-Western medicine diagnosis and treatment.

It is understood that after six months of meticulous preparation and renovation, the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Building has put in place a full-chain service system covering tumor diagnosis and treatment, rehabilitation, and nursing care.
As a key vehicle for the hospital’s advancement of integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine (TCM-Western medicine) initiatives, the building will fully leverage TCM’s unique strengths—such as alleviating side effects of tumor radiochemotherapy and enhancing patients’ quality of life—to deliver comprehensive, whole-life cycle healthcare services for patients.

The official commissioning of the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Building represents not only a critical step for Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital in deepening its commitment to oncology care and exploring medical innovation but also a vivid demonstration of the hospital fulfilling its regional medical and health mission.
Looking ahead, the hospital will continue to deepen its distinctive development path of "integrating heavy ion therapy with traditional Chinese medicine." It aims to build a benchmark for integrated TCM-Western medicine cancer treatment, both regionally and nationally. Through medical innovation, it will safeguard public health and inject sustained "Wuwei strength" into advancing high-quality development of medical and health undertakings in Wuwei and its surrounding regions, as well as contributing to the Healthy China initiative.
