China's First Heavy Ion Wellness Town Officially Launched
On September 26, China’s Heavy Ion Wellness Town officially launched operations in Wuwei.This milestone not only signals the emergence of a new landmark in China’s wellness industry but also embodies an innovative model—“heavy ion technology as the core, multi-dimensional integration as the wings”—that deeply aligns with Wuwei’s development framework of “two leading engines driving progress, five key growth areas sparking vitality.”It reinforces a new cornerstone for high-quality development of the city’s medical and wellness sectors, while contributing a distinct “Wuwei solution” to the rollout of the Healthy China initiative through industrial innovation.

As China’s first specialized wellness base centered on heavy ion technology, the town spans 2,865 mu (≈1,910 acres) and has a planned construction area of 338,000 square meters. Building on the profound technical expertise of the Wuwei Heavy Ion Center (affiliated with Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital), it has now established a full-chain wellness service matrix integrating heavy ion therapy, rehabilitation, health check-ups, cultural tourism convalescence, and staff recuperation. It is currently striving to develop a National 4A-level Tourist Attraction.
Notably, equipped with China’s first domestically developed heavy ion therapy system, the town organically combines cutting-edge medical technology with inclusive wellness services. Additionally, it has innovatively launched a "three-pronged" service system to erect a comprehensive health defense line for public well-being.

The "three-pronged" service system has become the town’s core competitive edge:
•First, anchored by the "10S" mind-body sleep therapy, it employs multi-dimensional interventions—soft lighting, calming sleep-inducing music, and targeted dietary regimens—to enhance sleep quality.
•Second, built on personalized customized physical exams, it offers tailored packages that include complimentary sleep therapy, premium accommodation, and cultural tourism experiences.
•Third, supported by comprehensive, whole-life cycle wellness management, it integrates diverse services such as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapy, mind-body wellness, and rural cultural therapy to safeguard health across one’s entire lifespan.

In terms of functional layout, the town has established a five-in-one wellness system covering medical care, wellness, culture, tourism, and research. It features specialized functional zones such as:
•The Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) & Tibetan Medicine Wellness, Physical Check-up, and Therapy Center;
•The Mind-Body Sleep Center;
•The East Fence Rural Therapy Zone;
•The Folk Culture Exhibition Hall.
•Meanwhile, it is coordinately advancing the construction of a cell therapy hospital and offering cell storage and treatment services.
•For accommodation, the town provides multi-level lodging options—including home-style apartments, expert duplexes, wellness courtyard residences, and wellness hotels—capable of housing over 600 convalescents and resters simultaneously.

Notably, the town has innovatively launched a "migratory elderly care" model, enabling seniors to relocate seasonally and access wellness services in different locations. Meanwhile, it is fostering a health industry transformation cluster centered on "medical devices, health beverages, and charity-driven creative products," achieving deep integration of technology empowerment with full-chain strategic deployment.

Looking ahead, the China Heavy Ion Wellness Town aims to establish itself as a top-tier national wellness benchmark. It will continuously unlock the synergistic effects of integrating heavy ion technology with diversified industries—not only delivering higher-quality health care to the public, but also harnessing the strength of its industrial cluster to accelerate the "engine" of Wuwei’s life and health sector. This will provide a solid health industry foundation to support the city’s development pattern of "two leading engines driving progress, five key growth areas sparking vitality,"and export Wuwei’s experience in integrated medical-wellness development to the nation.
