On the afternoon of May 6th, the National Clinical Research Center for Digestive Diseases hosted a special symposium at the Main Building, Third Conference Room, Heavy Ion Branch Campus of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital. The meeting aimed to deepen clinical and research collaboration with the Wuwei Sub-center and comprehensively promote the advancement of clinical research and scientific initiatives.

Presided over by Ms. Lu Linzhi, Director of the Digestive Diseases Center at Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital, the conference brought together a distinguished panel of experts. Attendees included professors from prestigious institutions such as Xijing Hospital of Digestive Diseases, The First Hospital of Lanzhou University, The First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University, Nanjing Medical University, and Wuhan University. Also present were officials from Minqin County People's Hospital and Minqin County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, alongside Mr. Ye Yancheng (President of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital), Ms. Nie Peng (Vice President), department heads, and core research members.

During the thematic sessions, key investigators presented their progress and insights:
- Mr. Hu Junguo, Director of Public Health at the host hospital, delivered a comprehensive report on the current status, achievements, and future planning of upper gastrointestinal cancer screening.
- Ms. Zheng Ya from The First Hospital of Lanzhou University detailed the implementation, core outcomes, and challenges of prevention and control demonstration projects in high-incidence gastric cancer areas.
- Ms. Wang Fengmei, Assistant to the President and Director of the Fourth Department of Hepatology, provided updates on the progress and clinical application results of liver disease-related projects.
- Mr. Cui Li (Director of Gastroenterology, Minqin County People's Hospital) and Ms. Zhang Yanmei (Director of Gastroenterology, Minqin County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital) shared their respective experiences in grassroots cancer screening and prevention.
- Dr. Gao Xianchun from Xijing Hospital of Digestive Diseases concluded the session by sharing cutting-edge technological applications and academic research findings based on his institution's screening practices.

Following the presentations, attendees engaged in in-depth roundtable discussions focusing on core issues: the development of novel risk-stratification methods for upper gastrointestinal cancers, the implementation of sequential screening strategies, the refinement of multi-hospital collaboration mechanisms, the enhancement of grassroots screening capabilities, and the roadmap for subsequent project execution. Experts freely exchanged views, offering targeted opinions and feasible suggestions on key challenges, thereby laying a solid academic and practical foundation for the efficient and precise execution of future initiatives.




This symposium successfully established a high-level platform for academic exchange and multi-party collaboration, clarifying the strategic direction for risk stratification and sequential screening projects. It significantly strengthened the synergy among provincial, municipal, and county-level medical institutions in the field of cancer prevention and control. Moving forward, Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital will leverage this momentum to fully integrate expert recommendations, accelerate the application of new screening methodologies, continuously enhance regional early diagnosis and treatment capabilities, and safeguard the digestive health of the population in the Hexi region, contributing substantially to the healthcare landscape of Wuwei and Gansu Province.
