On March 26, Professor Wang Junjie, the Tenth Chairman of the Chinese Society of Radiation Oncology of the Chinese Medical Association and President of the Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital, conducted routine in-person consultations for complex cases and teaching ward rounds at our hospital, leveraging top-tier national medical resources to enhance regional oncology diagnosis and treatment.

As a leading figure in the domestic radiotherapy field, Professor Wang Junjie has dedicated decades to the field of tumor radiation therapy, possessing profound expertise in radiotherapy technological innovation and the diagnosis and treatment of complex cases. His academic standing and clinical experience are widely regarded as benchmarks in the field. As the Tenth Chairman of the Chinese Society of Radiation Oncology of the Chinese Medical Association, he has always been at the forefront of the discipline, driving the development and standardization of radiotherapy technology in China. Each of his consultations brings patients a higher level of diagnostic and therapeutic insight and more precise treatment direction.

President Wang Junjie conducted teaching ward rounds in the radiotherapy ward, listening to reports from physicians across various clinical departments at our hospital. Drawing on the experience of Peking University Third Hospital and international diagnostic and treatment standards, he provided actionable solutions for the clinical staff of the radiotherapy department, charting a clear direction for advancing oncology diagnosis and treatment at our hospital.

Professor Wang Junjie’s regular consultations at our hospital represent a significant achievement for the Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital in upholding the "patient-centered" service philosophy, continuously promoting the allocation of high-quality medical resources to the grassroots, striving to enhance the regional level of diagnosis and treatment, and effectively addressing the practical issues of patients "traveling far to see a doctor" and "having difficulty accessing specialists."

As a core hub for heavy ion tumor therapy in China, the center relies on China’s domestically developed heavy ion treatment system, which officially entered clinical operation on November 15, 2024. To date, the center has successfully completed over 450 cases of precise heavy ion and photon therapy for tumor patients, covering a wide range of difficult-to-treat tumors such as lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, and brain glioma. The unique technological advantages and significant clinical efficacy of precision heavy ion radiotherapy have been fully validated, bringing new hope for treatment to numerous cancer patients.
