Meticulous Treatment Aids Recovery; Doctor-Patient Bond Warms Hearts
"To cure sometimes, to relieve often, to comfort always." Medicine cannot heal all ailments, but it can soothe patients’ pain, heal their hearts—and it is brimming with warmth and genuine care.
Grandpa Zhang from Ward 4 is discharged today. Grandma Zhang went to the office, took the director’s hand with tears in her eyes, and said, “Director, could we take a group photo with you medical staff? I just think you’re all so kind. During our time here, we felt like we’d become a family. I hate to leave today—could we keep this memory?” This request came from Grandpa Zhang’s family as he prepared to go home.
It turns out Grandpa Zhang suffers from severe conditions: 1. coronary heart disease, 2. paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, and 3. hypertension. Two months ago, a stroke left him paralyzed, bedridden, and unable to care for himself (including bowel and bladder functions). He received intermittent rehabilitation at multiple hospitals with little improvement, so after asking around, he came to our Rehabilitation Medicine Department.
Initially, because previous treatments showed little progress, the elderly man had no confidence in his recovery and was irritable. Additionally, due to his large build, he bore significant physical strain during therapy and resisted treatment, with low compliance. Through standardized psychological counseling, patient communication, and a tailored rehabilitation plan, he gradually opened up. As his condition improved, he regained confidence in rehab and became much more cooperative. After two months of treatment, Grandpa Zhang can now sit up independently and stand with assistance. He is preparing to be discharged home to rest.

During their hospital stay, Grandpa and Grandma Zhang were deeply satisfied with the professionalism, treatment efficacy, and attentive care provided by our department’s medical team. Before discharge, they painstakingly prepared homemade sand leek from their hometown—a small token for every staff member in our department.
This gesture is a powerful testament to their trust in, and affirmation of, every dedicated member of our team. Trust is what binds us together in fighting illness; trust is what motivates us to constantly refine our skills.
To all patients who have placed their faith in us: Your recovery is our greatest thanks, and your smile is our most precious gift.

In the future, we will redouble our efforts to excel in our duties and serve patients with unwavering dedication. We aim to build our rehabilitation department into a top-tier institution, striving to bring greater healing and hope to more patients on their rehabilitation journey.
