Multiple Association Joint Conference Gathers in Wuwei to Co-write a New Chapter in Minimally Invasive Diagnosis and Treatment of Gastric Cancer

On October 17-18, the "Inaugural Meeting of the Tumor Minimally Invasive Therapy Professional Committee of Gansu Anti-Cancer Association / The Sixth Academic Annual Meeting of the Oncology Professional Committee of Wuwei Medical Association / The Third Meeting of the Wuwei Tumor Disease Quality Control Center / The Second Meeting of the Wuwei Minimally Invasive Digestive Disease Surgery Quality Control Center / And the 2025 Wuwei Standardized Training Workshop on Minimally Invasive Surgery for Gastric Cancer" was successfully held. The event was hosted by the Tumor Minimally Invasive Therapy Professional Committee of Gansu Anti-Cancer Association, the Oncology Professional Committee of Wuwei Medical Association, the Wuwei Tumor Disease Quality Control Center, and the Wuwei Minimally Invasive Digestive Disease Surgery Quality Control Center. It was organized by the Heavy Ion Hospital District of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital (Wuwei Medical Science Research Institute). More than 30 renowned minimally invasive gastrointestinal oncology experts from across the country gathered in Wuwei. Through live surgeries, academic reports, and roundtable discussions, they injected new momentum into the standardized development of minimally invasive surgery for gastric cancer in Gansu Province and the western region.

At the opening ceremony, Ye Yancheng, President of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital; Guan Quanlin, Director of the Oncology Branch of Gansu Medical Association; and Wang Junxian, President of Wuwei Medical Association, delivered speeches respectively. They congratulated the establishment of the Tumor Minimally Invasive Therapy Professional Committee of Gansu Anti-Cancer Association, affirmed the past year's work of the quality control centers, and expressed expectations for the next steps in homogenizing and standardizing minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment for gastric cancer. During the academic lecture session, renowned experts from across the country engaged in in-depth discussions on the norms, challenges, and frontiers of minimally invasive surgery for gastric cancer, with each expert presenting excellent academic reports. Professor Zhao Ping from Sichuan Cancer Hospital, Professor Wang Baogui from Tianjin Cancer Hospital, Professor Professor Wang Yinkui from Peking University Cancer Hospital, Professor Hong Jun from Huashan Hospital of Fudan University, Professor Liao Xinhua from the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Professor Professor Li Quanhui from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University, Professor Ding Zhenyu from West China Hospital of Sichuan University, and Professor Nie Peng, Vice President of our hospital, delivered academic lectures. Each academic lecture was followed by a discussion session, where participating experts raised questions and shared insights on the lecture content. Discussion guests, including provincial experts Hu Ming, Wang Xingang, Qiu Zhisheng, Ren Guorong, and Chen Zhichuan, actively participated in the discussions, providing attendees with more perspectives and solutions.

On the afternoon of the 17th, in the operating room conference hall of the Heavy Ion Center at Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital, the surgical teams led by Nie Peng and Lu Linzhi performed live demonstrations of 3D/4K laparoscopic radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer (TLsTG) and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for early gastric cancer, respectively. These demonstrations showcased the exquisite skills of minimally invasive surgery in gastric cancer treatment. During the live surgeries, renowned gastric cancer experts from the province, including Ma Yuntao, Fan Yong, Wang Ji, and Wei Dengwen, served as commentators. They conducted in-depth discussions and reviews of the surgeries, providing comprehensive analyses from surgical techniques and operational standards to postoperative management, offering valuable learning opportunities for the attendees.
