Experts Gather in Wuwei, Gansu to Explore Cutting-Edge Particle Therapy Technologies

Xinhua News Agency, Lanzhou, June 28 (Wang Xiaohua, Song Yujing) - On June 28, the 5th Anniversary of Wuwei Heavy Ion Center's Clinical Operation and the Academic Symposium on Frontier Technologies in Tumor Particle Therapy were held in Wuwei, Gansu. Experts and scholars from both China and abroad gathered to conduct in-depth discussions and exchanges on innovative breakthroughs and future directions in tumor particle therapy technologies.

At the symposium, participating experts focused on core areas including clinical practice, physical technology, and R&D innovation. They shared the latest research findings in particle therapy, collaboratively analyzed cutting-edge industry trends, and provided strategic recommendations for technology application and future development trajectories.

As a key clinical base for heavy ion therapy in China, Wuwei Heavy Ion Center has treated a total of 2,036 patients since its clinical operation commenced in 2020. Over these five years, the center has established a comprehensive set of clinical protocols and standardized operational procedures, laying a solid foundation for the development of a national standardization system for heavy ion therapy technology.

Additionally,Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital has established China's first heavy ion oncology wellness town, realizing comprehensive lifecycle health management for cancer patients. The hospital also operates Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center under trusteeship, promoting integrated operation of heavy ion therapy systems across the province. These efforts position Gansu as a national specialty medical center for heavy ion therapy in oncology.

We are committed to building the center into a national demonstration base for heavy ion talent cultivation, academic excellence, and scientific research," said Ye Yancheng, President of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital.
