China's Heavy Ion Technology Shines at CIFTIS – A Destination for Cancer Patients Worldwide
In the golden autumn, we gather for a grand event, opening our doors to the future. The 2026 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) grandly opened in Beijing. At this year's fair, Gansu Province presents its exhibition under the theme "Symphony of the Silk Road, Auspicious Gansu," featuring the "Gansu Service Decoding Journey." The exhibition highlights four chapters of development: the journey of inheritance along a road, the journey of value‑added transformation of a kilowatt of electricity, the journey of sublimation of a single medicine, and the journey of transformation of a single letter.
As a cutting‑edge scientific and technological achievement in the field of nuclear medicine, our hospital's core heavy ion cancer treatment technology made a brilliant appearance at the CIFTIS. Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital participated as a representative of the "Journey of Sublimation of a Single Medicine" section. Leveraging its distinctive practice of "heavy ion + traditional Chinese medicine" synergistic cancer treatment, the hospital showcased innovative breakthroughs and industrial achievements in high‑end heavy ion cancer care on this international platform, steadily advancing toward the grand vision of becoming a global destination for cancer patients to overcome their disease.

At the 2026 CIFTIS, within the newly established "China Service Cases" exhibition, our hospital's internationalization practice of "China's Heavy Ion Therapy and Integrated Medical‑Wellness Care" was successfully selected as one of Gansu Province's two representative service trade cases. As the birthplace of domestically produced heavy ion technology, the hospital has innovatively developed a "heavy ion + traditional Chinese medicine" cancer treatment model. This approach deeply integrates the precision radiotherapy advantages of heavy ions with TCM syndrome‑based treatment, has led to the development of 21 standardized TCM prescription formulations, and has established a whole‑life‑cycle cancer care pathway. This treatment model was launched globally in Singapore in 2024. To date, it has served over 3,000 patients, covering all provinces and municipalities across China, as well as more than ten countries including Belgium, Australia, South Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Canada, Jordan, Serbia, and Russia. It has effectively extended survival for patients with refractory tumors such as glioblastoma and pancreatic cancer.

To break down barriers to international communication, the hospital has established a bilingual Chinese‑English international website, creating a digital service gateway for the global market. The site is designed for overseas patients, international medical institutions, and research scholars, systematically presenting content such as core heavy ion diagnostic and treatment technologies, the "heavy ion + traditional Chinese medicine" synergistic anticancer approach, expert teams, treatment procedures, and the wellness and rehabilitation system. By eliminating language and geographical barriers, it enables round‑the‑clock, accessible dissemination of medical information worldwide, building an efficient and convenient online bridge for international patient inquiries and academic exchange and collaboration.

During the exhibition, Gansu Province officially released the 2026 edition of the Auspicious Gansu Journey – Official Recommended Route Map for Inbound Visitors' Wellness Travel in Gansu, showcasing premium resources such as TCM wellness and specialty cuisine to a global audience. The world's first cancer wellness town, developed by our hospital, is a featured stop on this curated wellness route. Covering 2,865 mu (approximately 191 hectares), the town is a national 3A‑level tourist attraction and a provincial‑level recuperation base for model workers and employees. Within the town, the TCM Wellness Center deeply explores the cultural heritage of Han‑Dynasty medical bamboo slips and integrates the pastoral scenery of Dongli, organically combining cutting‑edge cancer treatment technology with accessible wellness services. It has established a comprehensive medical‑wellness service system integrating precision treatment, rehabilitation and health check‑ups, cultural tourism, and whole‑life‑cycle health management. The CIFTIS brings together outstanding service cases from across the country and presents a major opportunity for our hospital's distinctive medical and wellness services to enter the international market.

One medicine reveals innovation; one exhibition opens a new journey. Looking ahead, the hospital will take its participation in this year's CIFTIS as a fresh starting point. It will continue advancing the "journey of sublimation of a single medicine," deepen its distinctive "heavy ion + traditional Chinese medicine" treatment system, and make full use of bilingual international communication channels. By continuously refining its integrated services spanning cancer diagnosis and treatment, TCM rehabilitation, and whole‑life‑cycle health management, the hospital will strive unremittingly toward its goal of becoming a global destination where cancer patients overcome their disease — bringing the benefits of Gansu's distinctive medical achievements to more cancer patients both in China and around the world.
