Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital's Lanzhou Branch has recently boosted its expertise with the addition of two distinguished specialists-Chief Physician Xu Bo and Dr. Liao Anyan. The newly joined experts have begun providing routine clinical consultations, ward rounds, and academic guidance, collaborating to propel the hospital's ascent as a global leader in heavy-ion therapy while laying a solid foundation for establishing a world-class heavy-ion therapy brand.

Professor Xu Bo is a professor at Peking University School of Oncology and a Chief Physician in the Department of Radiotherapy at Peking University Cancer Hospital. For years, he has been dedicated to clinical practice, basic research, and teaching in radiation oncology and multidisciplinary cancer treatment. Through extensive clinical experience, he has developed profound expertise in precision radiotherapy for solid tumors, as well as comprehensive treatment of lung cancer, breast cancer, esophageal cancer, cervical cancer, malignant lymphoma, and other malignancies. His joining will provide robust technical support for heavy-ion therapy, further strengthening the hospital’s expert team and paving the way for even greater achievements in cancer treatment.

Dr. Liao Anyan, a Distinguished Visiting Expert in our Radiotherapy Department, has accumulated over 30 years of clinical practice in tumor radiotherapy. She has dedicated her career to advancing abdominopelvic malignancies radiotherapy, achieving remarkable breakthroughs in this field. Her expertise spans precision radiotherapy techniques including intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), Gamma Knife, and CyberKnife, with extensive experience in comprehensive treatment strategies for solid tumors.

Key Contributions: Clinical Focus: Specializes in liver cancer, rectal cancer, and prostate cancer, combining advanced radiotherapy modalities with multidisciplinary care approaches.

Technical Innovation: Pioneered optimized protocols for ​image-guided adaptive radiotherapy and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), significantly improving treatment outcomes.

Research Impact: Authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and contributed to national radiotherapy guidelines for abdominopelvic malignancies.

Dr. Liao's appointment will propel the hospital to new heights in precision radiotherapy, reinforcing its position as a global leader in cancer treatment innovation.

The Lanzhou Campus of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital has built an outstanding talent system with an elite gathering, and established expert workstations led by 50 top industry authorities such as Shen Wenjiang, the honorary lifetime professor of the Department of Radiation Oncology of Peking University Health Science Center, and Professor Xu Bo, a standing committee member of the Radiation Oncology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association. Professor Wang Junjie, the chairman of the Radiation Oncology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, serves as the dean, providing strong technical support for heavy ion therapy. At the same time, the campus is also equipped with a series of cutting-edge medical devices such as the only 3.0T large aperture radiotherapy positioning MRI, 256-row high-end diagnostic CT, Varian VitalBeam medical linear accelerator, Elekta Infinity four-dimensional image-guided linear accelerator, Philips large aperture positioning CT, and Siemens large aperture positioning CT in Lanzhou urban area. These hardware facilities have laid a solid foundation for heavy ion therapy and ensured the efficiency and accuracy of the treatment process.
