2025 Wuwei Digestive Disease Minimally Invasive Surgery Quality Control Center Laparoscopic Surgery Basic Skills Training Course Successfully Held at Our Hospital

From March 28 to 29, 2025, the Laparoscopic Surgery Basic Skills Training Course organized by the Wuwei Digestive Disease Minimally Invasive Surgery Quality Control Center was successfully conducted at the Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital. The event aimed to enhance laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery skills among young medical professionals in the Jinchang-Wuwei region and promote the clinical application of laparoscopic technology.

Grand Opening Ceremony

At 8:30 AM on March 28, the training course commenced with a formal opening ceremony. Young trainees from medical institutions across the Jinchang-Wuwei region and expert faculty from our hospital gathered to witness this academic milestone. Attendees included Vice President Nie Peng, Director of General Surgery Li Shigong, and Director of Medical Affairs Chen Hongbing, who delivered speeches welcoming participants and emphasizing the critical role of laparoscopic surgery in modern medicine. The ceremony was hosted by Wang Yongjin, Deputy Director of the Gastric Surgery Department, and concluded with a group photo in the heavy ion operating room.

The training began with in-depth academic lectures. Chen Hongbing, Director of Gastrointestinal Surgery, presented "Advances in 4K Laparoscopy for Gastrointestinal Tumor Surgery", highlighting improvements in surgical precision and reduced complications. Wang Jihong, Director of Gastric Surgery, and Tao Jichun, Deputy Director of Abdominal Surgery, elaborated on "Overview and Techniques of Laparoscopic Gastric Cancer Surgery" and "Overview and Techniques of Laparoscopic Right Hemicolectomy", respectively, sharing valuable clinical insights. Additionally, Wang Yongjin shared expertise in "Role of Laparoscopic Assistants and Camera Operators", underscoring teamwork’s importance in laparoscopic procedures.

A highlight of the training was the live surgery broadcast. Teams led by Professors Nie Peng, Chen Hongbing, and Li Shigong demonstrated: otal laparoscopic total gastrectomy with f-SPLT anastomosis; Laparoscopic radical resection for rectal cancer; Laparoscopic liver tumor resection. The surgeons’ technical mastery drew applause from attendees. Live Q&A sessions fostered dynamic interactions between experts and trainees.

wuweiSkill Training: Bridging Theory and Practice

At the Heavy Ion Skills Training Center, participants practiced basic skills using laparoscopic simulators, including: Object transfer, cutting, suturing, and knot tying; Simulated gastrointestinal surgeries (e.g., appendectomy, gastroenterostomy). These exercises reinforced procedural familiarity and operational accuracy.

The two-day training concluded on March 29 with a closing ceremony. Vice President Nie Peng summarized the event, praising attendees’ dedication. Participants received completion certificates in recognition of their achievements.
