Gansu's Renowned TCM Experts Collaborate with Heavy Ion Technology: Making Treatment
"Gentler" and More Precise
On March 29, Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital's Heavy Ion Center hosted an academic symposium featuring Prof. Wang Yuming, a distinguished expert in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) from Gansu Province. The event, titled "Inheriting Classics, Unleashing Therapeutic Power: Silver Needles in Oncology", was a pivotal initiative under the "Famous TCM Practitioners Joint Workstation" in Wuwei to deepen the integration of TCM and modern oncology. By blending TCM theories with heavy ion technology, the collaboration aims to elevate comprehensive cancer treatment standards and deliver personalized, high-quality care.

Since the launch of the "Famous TCM Practitioners Joint Workstation" at the Wuwei Heavy Ion Center in March 2025, numerous provincial and municipal TCM experts have participated in regular outpatient services, ward rounds, and academic exchanges. Notably, specialized clinics for rheumatic immune diseases and bone disorders—led by acclaimed TCM physicians—have established a synergistic TCM-Western medicine diagnostic framework, offering patients precise, whole-process treatment plans.
Prof. Wang Yuming, a leading authority in Gansu’s TCM field, focused his lecture on the role and advantages of acupuncture in cancer care. He emphasized that acupuncture not only alleviates pain and discomfort but also enhances patients’ immunity and quality of life.

With the ongoing presence of experts like Prof. Wang Yuming and Prof. Deng Bingzhang at the hospital’s TCM department, regular outpatient services, ward rounds, free clinics, and training programs have brought high-quality TCM services to patients across Northwest China and beyond. This innovative practice not only injects vitality into modern healthcare systems through traditional medicine but also contributes Eastern wisdom to global oncology, revitalizing millennia-old TCM practices on the contemporary medical stage.
