Good News: Wuwei Cancer Hospital Emergency Team Wins Multiple Awards in Provincial CPR Competition
Recently, the 2026 Gansu Province Full-Chain Emergency Skills Competition for Cardiopulmonary Arrest was held, bringing together top emergency medical professionals from across the province. Aimed at promoting learning and honing skills through competition, the event sought to standardize the full-chain emergency response protocol for cardiorespiratory arrest. Our hospital’s Emergency Department team participated in the competition, fully demonstrating the professional expertise of our emergency medical team.
The competition focused on building a standardized, full-process emergency system for cardiorespiratory arrest. The contest content closely replicated real-life pre-hospital and in-hospital emergency scenarios, covering multiple core emergency modules such as rapid condition assessment, high-quality CPR, defibrillation, airway management, emergency medication, team coordination, doctor-patient communication, and complication prevention. With rigorous and detailed assessment criteria, the competition was highly authoritative. It served as a comprehensive evaluation of the critical care capabilities of medical institutions across the province, and provided a professional platform for emergency medical staff to exchange expertise and learn from one another. On the competition field, our team members, full of energy and composure, performed precise and standardized emergency operations, demonstrating efficient and tacit teamwork, as well as a solid professional foundation.
After fierce competition, our team achieved outstanding results: Director Zhang Zhenshuai won the Excellent Instructor Award; the Emergency Department team secured the Second Prize in the team category; Dr. Cai Jiting and Nurse Su Xuemei each won the Second Prize in the individual category; and Dr. Li Yingying won the Third Prize in the individual category. These achievements are not only the result of the contestants' hard training, but also a microcosm of the comprehensive treatment strength of our Emergency Department.

As the Wuwei City 120 Emergency Medical Sub-center, our Emergency Department coordinates the development of the Central Hospital Campus and the Heavy Ion Branch, establishing an integrated pre-hospital, emergency, and ICU care system. The department is equipped with complete emergency facilities and has a professional emergency team of 26 members. It has been rated as a municipal-level Outstanding Physician Team. The department has established a Provincial Level III Trauma Center and a Rabies Clinic. It has opened a fast-track emergency treatment channel for high-risk critical cases, enabling efficient management of various sudden and critical illnesses, and continuously improving the regional emergency system. The department consistently carries out regular emergency skills training and practical drills, integrating technical refinement into daily work, continuously strengthening the talent echelon, and actively participating in regional emergency collaboration. Participating in this competition was a valuable learning and improvement opportunity for the Emergency Department. The team benchmarked against the provincial advanced levels, identified gaps, and broadened their emergency diagnosis and treatment ideas.
Promoting learning through competition to strengthen capabilities, and taking solid actions to protect people's lives. In the next step, the Emergency Department will translate the training results of the competition into clinical effectiveness, apply what they have learned to daily critical care, continuously standardize emergency diagnosis and treatment processes, refine core emergency technologies, and improve team collaboration. The department will cherish the honor, make persistent efforts, protect the lives and health of the people with excellent professional capabilities and high-quality medical services, and contribute to the high-quality development of regional emergency medical services.
