—Gansu Provincial Thoracic Surgery "Grassroots Outreach Campaign" Expert Panel Visits Our Hospital for Quality Control Inspection and Alliance Building Activities

To thoroughly implement the national strategy for hierarchical diagnosis and treatment, continuously promote the allocation of high-quality medical resources to grassroots institutions, deepen the construction of specialized alliances, and standardize regional thoracic surgery quality control, on June 30, the Gansu Provincial Thoracic Surgery "Grassroots Outreach Campaign" expert team, led by Professor Yue Peng from Lanzhou University First Hospital, visited our hospital to carry out a series of activities including quality control inspection, alliance building, technology promotion, exchange and support, and preparation for skills competitions.

At the beginning of the event, Director Zhang Yingguo of the Department of Thoracic Surgery, on behalf of his department, extended a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to the visiting experts. He earnestly requested the panel to provide precise guidance on key areas such as refined department management, medical risk prevention and control, disciplinary development, and the training of young professionals, so as to facilitate high-quality and efficient development of the department.

Subsequently, the expert team from Lanzhou University First Hospital elaborated on the core objectives, implementation procedures, and key tasks of this "Grassroots Outreach Campaign." They made comprehensive arrangements regarding the re-evaluation of the Thoracic Surgery Specialized Alliance, the review of new alliance members, the renewal of cooperation agreements, quality control management, the selection of grassroots quality control experts, the interconnection and sharing of medical information, and the preparation for the provincial skills competition, thereby clarifying the standards and requirements for all tasks.

During the meeting, Director Zhang Yingguo delivered a special report on the department's development. He comprehensively introduced the current status of thoracic surgery construction, business operations, and personnel structure. He also objectively analyzed practical challenges currently faced, such as regional population decline, intensified medical competition, patient outflow, pressure from DIP-based medical insurance cost control, and the diversion of single-disease cases. He expressed the hope that, relying on the provincial specialized alliance platform, the collaboration mechanism between our hospital and provincial key hospitals could be further deepened, thus building a solid platform for regular technical assistance, talent cultivation, and academic co-construction.

Targeting the pain points in the development of grassroots thoracic surgery, the expert panel conducted a precise "diagnosis," systematically sorting out the issues and providing on-site, actionable suggestions for improvement. They also clarified follow-up support measures such as regular online guidance, technology transfer, and professional training, further clarifying the focus and direction for the department's improvement.

After the meeting, the expert panel reviewed the quality control records and medical records, completed on-site data verification and reporting in accordance with the re-evaluation and quality control assessment standards of the specialized alliance. They also carried out case discussions and technical guidance simultaneously. The experts fully affirmed the standardized construction achievements of our Department of Thoracic Surgery over the years, its level of diagnosis and treatment for regional thoracic tumors, and its leading role in the treatment of thoracic diseases in the Hexi region.

During the exchange session, the expert team, combining the latest diagnosis and treatment guidelines with cutting-edge concepts, focused on conducting special training on core contents such as the precise control of indications for minimally invasive thoracic surgery, standardized perioperative management, prevention and emergency treatment of common postoperative complications, and the building of specialized brand identity. They emphasized that diagnosis, treatment, and management must adhere to precision and standardization, with advanced concepts taking the lead, so as to comprehensively consolidate the bottom line of medical quality and safety. At the meeting, witnessed by all attendees, the re-evaluation, new evaluation, and agreement renewal of our hospital's Thoracic Surgery Specialized Alliance were successfully completed. Personnel assessments and the selection of grassroots quality control experts were also carried out simultaneously, laying a solid foundation for further deepening the collaboration between the two hospitals and for regular technical assistance, talent cultivation, and academic research.

This special event of the Gansu Provincial Thoracic Surgery "Grassroots Outreach Campaign" is an important and pragmatic measure for our hospital to deepen medical reform, implement hierarchical diagnosis and treatment, and promote the allocation of high-quality medical resources to grassroots institutions. It serves not only as a comprehensive verification of our department's quality control management, discipline construction, and diagnosis and treatment service capabilities but also builds a communication bridge for long-term collaboration and vertical linkage between provincial and municipal thoracic surgery departments. Our Department of Thoracic Surgery will take this inspection as an opportunity to leverage provincial alliance resources to address shortcomings, continuously strengthen the connotation construction of the specialty, constantly improve the standardized diagnosis and treatment capabilities for thoracic diseases, and strive to promote high-quality development of the discipline.
