Chief Expert Professor Wang Junjie Provides Daily Radiotherapy Consultations
On July 1, Professor Wang Junjie, the 10th Chair of the Chinese Society of Radiation Oncology and President of the Lanzhou Campus of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital, conducted regular on‑site consultations for complex cases and teaching rounds at our hospital, bringing nationally top‑tier medical resources to support regional cancer care.

As a leading figure in the field of radiotherapy in China, Professor Wang Junjie has devoted decades to radiation oncology, with deep expertise in technological innovation and the management of complex cases. His academic standing and clinical experience are widely regarded as industry benchmarks. As the 10th Chair of the National Radiotherapy Committee of the Chinese Medical Association, he has consistently remained at the forefront of the discipline, advancing the development and standardization of radiotherapy in China. Each consultation he provides brings higher‑level diagnostic thinking and more precise treatment direction to patients.
During this guidance visit, President Wang Junjie conducted thorough rounds in the radiation oncology department, carefully inquiring about each patient's condition, treatment progress, and physical status. He engaged in in‑depth discussions with the center's radiotherapy medical and nursing team. For individual patients, Professor Wang worked with the team to analyze key diagnostic and treatment issues, develop precise and personalized follow‑up treatment plans, and emphasized that cancer treatment is a comprehensive systemic endeavor. He stressed the importance of integrating multiple factors — including the patient's overall condition, tumor type, and stage — to ensure that each treatment plan is both scientifically sound and specifically tailored.

Professor Wang Junjie’s regular clinical visits to our hospital represent an important achievement of the Lanzhou Campus of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital in upholding its "patient‑centered" service philosophy, continuously promoting the distribution of high‑quality medical resources to the grassroots level, striving to enhance regional diagnosis and treatment capabilities, and effectively addressing the practical problems of "long travel distances for medical care and difficulty accessing specialist consultations."
As a core hub for heavy ion tumor therapy in China, our hospital relies on a domestically developed heavy ion treatment system, which officially commenced clinical operation on November 15, 2024. To date, the hospital has successfully completed precise heavy ion and photon therapy for over 600 tumor patients, covering a range of challenging malignancies including lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, and glioblastoma. The unique technical advantages and significant clinical efficacy of precision heavy ion radiotherapy have been fully validated, bringing new treatment hope to numerous cancer patients.
