Renowned Expert Professor Zhao Ren Joins Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital – Leading Teaching Rounds to Advance Heavy Ion Center Care

From June 11 to 12, Professor Zhao Ren from the Department of Radiation Oncology at the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University was invited to the Heavy Ion Center of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital. He focused on conducting teaching ward rounds in the Second Department of Radiation Oncology and participated in multidisciplinary consultations. During his visit, Professor Zhao organized in‑depth discussions and analyses on complex cases. This initiative to bring in high‑level national medical resources aims to further enhance our hospital’s comprehensive cancer care capabilities and allow local patients to receive top‑tier medical services without leaving their home region.

Professor Zhao Ren is a senior expert and chief physician in the field of radiation oncology. He serves as a standing committee member of the Chinese Society of Radiation Oncology and a member of the Lung Cancer Professional Committee of the China Anti-Cancer Association, among other academic roles. With a deep focus on the diagnosis and treatment of thoracic malignancies, he specializes in the comprehensive management of lung cancer, esophageal cancer, and mediastinal tumors using radiotherapy, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy. Professor Zhao has extensive experience in both clinical practice and research.

During this guidance visit, Professor Zhao Ren conducted thorough rounds in the radiation oncology ward, carefully inquiring about each patient's condition, treatment progress, and physical status. He engaged in in‑depth discussions with the medical and nursing team at the center. For individual patients, the professor worked with the team to analyze key diagnostic and treatment issues, develop precise and personalized follow‑up treatment plans, and emphasized that cancer treatment is a comprehensive systemic endeavor. He stressed the importance of integrating multiple factors — including the patient's overall condition, tumor type, and stage — to ensure that each treatment plan is both scientifically sound and specifically tailored.

Professor Zhao Ren's on‑site guidance marks an important part of the ongoing academic exchange activities involving leading experts at the Wuwei Heavy Ion Center. His visit has brought new momentum to both discipline development and clinical care at the center.
