Radiation Oncology Expert Professor Fan Ruitai – Regular Clinical Guidance

On June 11 and 12, Professor Fan Ruitai — a nationally recognized expert in radiation oncology from the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University — was invited to the Heavy Ion Campus of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital. He conducted ward rounds, outpatient consultations, and other clinical activities. This initiative to bring in high‑level national medical resources aims to further strengthen our hospital’s comprehensive cancer care capabilities and allow local patients to receive top‑tier medical services without leaving their home region.

Professor Fan Ruitai is a Second‑Level Professor, Chief Physician, and Doctoral and Postdoctoral Supervisor. He serves as the Academic Leader of the Ministry of Health's Key Clinical Specialty in Oncology, a Standing Committee Member of the Chinese Society of Radiation Oncology, and Chairman of the Radiation Oncology Branch of the Henan Medical Association, among other important academic positions. He has extensive clinical experience in the precision radiotherapy of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, lung cancer, esophageal cancer, breast cancer, and head and neck tumors, and is highly regarded in the radiation oncology community in China.

During his stay, Professor Fan conducted in‑depth clinical guidance in the Radiation Oncology ward and at the Heavy Ion Therapy Center. During ward rounds, he carefully assessed each patient with a complex or critical condition, taking detailed medical histories and thoroughly reviewing imaging studies. Together with our medical team, he analyzed disease progression and treatment course, customizing personalized treatment plans for each patient. In multidisciplinary consultations on complex cases, Professor Fan offered detailed explanations and precise evaluations regarding the development of comprehensive radiotherapy treatment plans. His insights broadened the team’s clinical perspectives, standardized procedures, and enhanced practice. During outpatient sessions, he received patients with patience, meticulously reviewed imaging findings, and provided authoritative, professional recommendations based on clinical staging — earning wide recognition and praise from both patients and their families.
