On May 28, Professor Yu Zhilong, a radiotherapy expert from the Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University and an expert at the CNNC Heavy Ion Consultation Center, made a routine visit to the Wuwei Heavy Ion Center and conducted a series of important academic exchange activities, including clinical rounds in various radiotherapy departments, participation in complex case discussions, and provision of cutting‑edge technical guidance.

Professor Yu Zhilong is a Chief Physician and Master's Supervisor, and a radiotherapy expert at the Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University. He currently serves as the chairperson of several radiotherapy‑related societies and as the director of a quality control center. He has received honors such as the "China Bethune‑Style Good Doctor Nomination Award" and "Inner Mongolia People's Good Doctor." He specializes in radiotherapy and comprehensive treatment for nasopharyngeal carcinoma, laryngeal cancer, brain tumors, lung cancer, breast cancer, esophageal cancer, liver cancer, kidney cancer, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, cervical cancer, lymphoma, and benign diseases, and is particularly renowned for his expertise in Gamma Knife therapy.

During his ward rounds, Professor Yu Zhilong went deep into the inpatient areas to thoroughly understand each patient's condition and treatment progress, and engaged in in-depth discussions with the radiotherapy team. Based on individual patient circumstances, he provided precise and personalized treatment recommendations, emphasizing that optimal treatment plans for cancer require comprehensive consideration of multiple factors, including the patient's physical condition, tumor type, and stage.

Professor Yu Zhilong's routine visit represents an important achievement of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital in advancing the Heavy Ion Therapy Alliance and its 50 expert workstations. As the hospital operating two heavy ion therapy systems simultaneously, Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital has always been committed to the continuous development and innovation of cancer treatment technology. Since the Wuwei Heavy Ion Center officially commenced clinical treatment in March 2020, it has successfully completed treatment for over 2,800 patients. The range of treated tumor types is extensive, covering more than 100 types including lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, and glioblastoma. Patients come from a wide geographic area, including all provinces and municipalities across mainland China, as well as Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, and also from countries such as Belgium, Australia, South Korea, Malaysia, Canada, Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, New Zealand, Jordan, and Serbia.
