Empowering Health Through Science Popularization – Guarding the Light of Life

To further disseminate knowledge on cancer prevention and treatment, enhance the scientific cancer awareness of patients and their families, and guide the public to adopt the health philosophy of "early prevention, early detection, and early treatment," a special health education session on cancer prevention and treatment was successfully held on May 25 at our hospital's Physical Examination Center.

The session was hosted by Su Linglin, Head Nurse of the Lanzhou Campus of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital, and was conducted in a format combining "specialized lectures + interactive Q&A." The content covered multiple core dimensions, including tumor epidemiology, health management of esophageal cancer, nutritional rehabilitation for cancer patients, and the importance of regular physical examinations, providing attendees with a professional and practical feast of health knowledge.

At the beginning of the event, Director Zhao Hui of the Lanzhou Campus of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital delivered a lecture titled "Epidemiology of Tumors," systematically explaining the current incidence of tumors, risk factors, and key points of prevention and control. Using authoritative data and vivid case studies, he dispelled common misconceptions about tumors and emphasized the importance of scientific cancer prevention and standardized management. Subsequently, Nurse Li Rongrong presented a special talk titled "No Secrets About Eating – Guarding Your Health with Esophageal Cancer Awareness," providing a detailed explanation of esophageal cancer prevention and treatment from the perspectives of dietary habits, early symptoms, and preventive screening, guiding the audience to pay attention to esophageal health and avoid unhealthy lifestyle habits.

During the session titled "Don't Let 'Food Taboos' Undermine Recovery – Nutrition Guidance for Cancer Patients," Nurse Li Rong focused on common nutritional misconceptions during the rehabilitation period of cancer patients. Using clear and accessible language, she corrected mistaken beliefs such as "blind food avoidance" and "excessive supplementation." Drawing on clinical experience, she shared principles of scientific dietary balance and techniques for nutritional supplementation, helping patients and their families establish correct nutritional concepts and build a solid nutritional foundation for the recovery journey. Nurse Luo Ling then delivered a lecture on "The Importance of Regular Physical Examinations," using real‑life cases to reveal the critical role of regular check‑ups in early cancer screening and early disease intervention. She called on everyone to value health management, take an active part in physical examinations, and achieve early detection, early diagnosis, and early treatment of diseases.

After the specialized lectures, Associate Chief Physician Liu Guowei and Physician Wang Haiyun answered questions from patients and their families. Addressing the audience's concerns regarding treatment plans, rehabilitation care, dietary management, and other issues, the experts provided patient and detailed responses, offering personalized health guidance and recommendations, which were highly appreciated by all attendees.
