Zero-Distance, Face-to-Face – Lanzhou Branch Community Clinic Successfully Concluded
To thoroughly implement the patient-centered service philosophy and extend high-quality medical resources to the community, on April 29, the Lanzhou Branch of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital organized a medical team to visit Hezheng East Street Community. The team conducted a public welfare clinic, health education, and resident outreach activities. Hospital leaders led the team on-site, delivering professional medical services and warm care right to the residents’ doorsteps.

On the day of the event, a long line formed early in the community square. As soon as experts from the hospital’s oncology, surgery, orthopedics, traditional Chinese medicine, and heavy ion centers took their seats, they were surrounded by enthusiastic residents. Medical staff not only provided free blood pressure and blood glucose measurements but also offered detailed explanations on common diseases, frequently occurring illnesses, and tumor prevention knowledge.
“Doctor, what should I do about stomach discomfort?” “Are small lung nodules serious?” Faced with urgent inquiries from residents, tumor prevention experts patiently provided one-on-one answers and gave professional screening and follow-up advice. Orthopedic specialists conducted precise examinations for elderly residents with back and leg pain and offered scientific rehabilitation guidance. Residents praised the initiative: “Having experts come to us is so thoughtful!”
Meanwhile, the physical and mental wellness and sleep consultation area was also highly popular. Experts identified residents’ physical constitutions through observation, listening, questioning, and palpation, sharing practical tips on seasonal wellness and acupoint healthcare. Traditional Chinese medicine rehabilitation experience sessions attracted many middle-aged and elderly participants. The consultation desk for heavy ion radiotherapy—a hallmark service of the hospital—also drew significant attention. Experts explained this advanced technology in plain language, helping residents better understand this nationally recognized treatment.

“It’s usually not easy to go to the hospital, but today experts came to our community for consultations and taught us so much about health. This is truly wonderful!” remarked an aunt who had just received advice, giving a thumbs-up to the medical staff for their considerate service.

This public welfare clinic is one of the key initiatives of the Lanzhou Branch of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital to give back to society and serve the community. By bringing high-quality medical resources directly to residents, the event not only provided access to professional medical consultations at their doorstep but also enhanced public health awareness and self-care capabilities, further bridging the gap between the hospital and the community.
Moving forward, the Lanzhou Branch of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital will remain committed to its public welfare mission, regularizing community clinics, health education, and public outreach initiatives. The hospital will continue to optimize service formats, enrich service offerings, and provide more targeted medical services to meet the health needs of different groups. At the same time, the hospital will leverage its specialized expertise, focusing on core tasks in tumor prevention and treatment, promoting early screening, diagnosis, and intervention, and striving to raise regional awareness of tumor prevention. With more professional expertise, thoughtful services, and practical measures, the hospital aims to strengthen the public health safety net and contribute to the high-quality development of regional healthcare.
