Converging East and West to Nurture Wellness, Fostering Physical and Mental Health for All – Lanzhou Branch of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital Successfully Concludes Community Public Welfare Free Clinic

To practice the Healthy China strategy, genuinely serve residents in surrounding communities, and enhance public health literacy, the Lanzhou Branch of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital successfully held a community public welfare free clinic on April 22nd, under the theme "Converging East and West, Fostering Physical and Mental Health."

At the event, experts from our hospital's Gastroenterology & Integrated Rehabilitation Department and Surgical Department patiently and meticulously interpreted medical reports for residents, answered questions about various diseases, and provided easy-to-understand science popularization on topics like rehabilitation care. Simultaneously, the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) consultation area was highly popular. Experienced TCM practitioners, utilizing the four diagnostic methods of observation, listening, questioning, and pulse-taking, helped residents identify their body constitutions, analyze sub-health conditions, and offered personalized health preservation advice, along with dietary therapy prescriptions or simple herbal formulas. This showcased TCM's distinctive advantages in "preventive treatment" and chronic disease management.

This activity distinctly highlighted the feature of "converging East and West." Through the joint free clinic by experts, the aim was to convey to the public the comprehensive health concept of "fostering physical and mental health." This means not only focusing on treating diseases themselves but also placing greater emphasis on regulating and rehabilitating the overall physical and mental state. Modern Western medicine excels in precise diagnosis and efficient treatment, while traditional Chinese medicine is adept at holistic regulation and strengthening the body's resistance. The combination of both can provide patients with more optimized and humanized health management plans.

In addition to expert consultations, the event venue also offered free basic health check services such as blood pressure and blood glucose measurements. Various health education brochures were distributed, covering topics like prevention and treatment of common diseases, healthy diets, and scientific exercise, which attracted a large number of residents to stop by, collect, and learn.

This free clinic is one of the hospital's important initiatives to give back to society and serve the people. By bringing high-quality medical resources into the community, it not only made it convenient for residents to access high-level medical consultation services close to home, effectively enhancing public health awareness and self-care abilities, but also further bridged the distance between the hospital and community residents.
