Case Competition

Recently, the 2025 Gansu Provincial Hypertension Excellence Case Competition concluded successfully. The case submitted by Dr. Zhao Hui and Dr. Yang Shengzi from the Geriatrics Department of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital performed outstandingly in the competition and won the third prize in the "Excellent Management Case Group" category.

This competition focused on the standardized diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of hypertension, aiming to promote the improvement of clinical doctors' diagnosis and treatment levels. The award-winning case from our hospital’s doctors fully reflects the individualized and standardized comprehensive management strategy for elderly hypertensive patients, demonstrating the hospital’s professional capability in the field of hypertension prevention and treatment. This achievement is also closely related to the continuous construction and efforts of our hospital’s Hypertension Standard Center. By establishing standardized diagnosis and treatment processes and strengthening multidisciplinary collaboration, the center is committed to providing higher quality and more efficient whole-course management services for hypertensive patients, ultimately achieving blood pressure compliance and improving patient prognosis.

The Geriatrics Department of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital is a comprehensive clinical department integrating medical treatment, teaching, prevention, healthcare, and rehabilitation. It is the leading hospital of the Wuwei City "Hypertension Standard Center," the municipal center for cardiomyopathy of the National Cardiovascular Disease Center, a specialist unit for elderly diabetes, and the only medical institution in Wuwei carrying out palliative care work. Addressing the physiological characteristics of elderly patients such as "multiple coexisting diseases and polypharmacy," the department fully implements a "patient-centered" individualized diagnosis and treatment model and a comprehensive geriatric assessment system. The department’s diagnosis and treatment scope covers common geriatric diseases, chronic diseases (such as hypertension, diabetes, coronary heart disease, etc.), geriatric syndromes (such as falls, dementia, malnutrition, frailty), as well as internal medicine treatments and palliative supportive care related to tumors. The department has an experienced and skilled medical and nursing team equipped with advanced medical devices, dedicated to improving the functional status and quality of life of elderly patients, reflecting the humanistic care and professional characteristics of modern geriatric medicine, and is a trusted health guardian for elderly patients in the region.
