Since the Chinese heavy ion therapy system was started, a number of patients from Hong Kong and Macau have obtained satisfactory curative effect in Wuwei Heavy Ion Center.

On December 6, 2024, the China Heavy Ion System Clinical Application New Technology and Green Healthcare Model Promotion Conference was successfully held in Hong Kong. The event was attended by distinguished guests, including Dr. Li Hanmi, former founding president of the Prince of Wales Hospital, former Deputy Director of the Hong Kong Department of Health, and currently the executive director of the China Anti-Cancer Association (Hong Kong and Macau Branch), fellow of the Hong Kong College of Community Medicine, fellow of the Hong Kong College of Radiologists, and fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine. Also present were Dr. Au Siu Kee, director of the China Anti-Cancer Association (Hong Kong and Macau Branch), fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists, fellow of the Hong Kong College of Radiologists, and fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine; Mr. Zhang Keke, advisor of the New Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macau Technology Alliance, council member of the Cross-Strait and Hong Kong-Macau Collaborative Innovation Alliance, and former full-time vice chairman of the Shenzhen Association for Science and Technology; Professor Leung Yiu Ming, consultant pharmacist and registered pharmacist at AMO Oncology Center; Professor Yuan Jing, chief physicist at Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital; Professor Ren Yimin, specially appointed professor at Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital and former chairman of the Taiwan Radiation Oncology Committee; Professor Wu Jiaming, chief physicist at Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital and former chief physicist at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan; as well as experts from various hospitals in Hong Kong. Representatives from China Southern Airlines Group Hong Kong Branch, the Industrial Innovation Committee of the China Science and Technology Finance Promotion Association, and experts and liaison personnel from Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital also attended the conference.

The event showcased the latest advancements in heavy ion system clinical applications and introduced innovative green healthcare models, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among medical professionals and stakeholders across regions.

The promotion conference was chaired by Professor Wu Jiaming, Chief Physicist at Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital. The event featured insightful speeches by Mr. Zhang Keke, Advisor of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macau Technology Alliance and former Full-time Vice Chairman of the Shenzhen Association for Science and Technology; Professor Li Hanmi, Executive Director of the China Anti-Cancer Association (Hong Kong and Macau Branch) and Fellow of the Hong Kong College of Community Medicine; and Professor Ren Yimin, Specially Appointed Professor at Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital and former Chairman of the Taiwan Radiation Oncology Committee.

Ms. Chen Suhua, Sales Director of China Southern Airlines Group Culture and Media Company, provided an introduction to the heavy ion green healthcare project. Additionally, Deputy Director Qi Ying of the Lanzhou Branch of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital delivered a keynote report titled "Current Status of Heavy Ion System Construction and Clinical Applications."

The conference highlighted the latest advancements in heavy ion technology and its practical applications, fostering meaningful discussions and collaboration among experts and stakeholders in the field.
