"First domestic carbon ion therapy system approved" highlighted in CAS's 2019 tech transfer achievements.
Recently, the Chinese Academy of Sciences announced the list of "Outstanding Transfer and Transformation Achievements of 2019," and the "domestically-developed carbon ion therapy system" developed by the Institute of Modern Physics (IMFP) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was selected. The system has been approved for registration and market launch, making it the first domestically-developed carbon ion therapy system in China.
On September 29, 2019, the carbon ion treatment system developed by the Institute of Modern Physics and its holding company, Lanzhou Kejin Taiji New Technology Co., Ltd., was approved for Class III medical device product registration. This product is installed at Wuwei Cancer Hospital in Gansu Province, and it is the first domestically produced carbon ion treatment system registered by the National Medical Products Administration.
