On June 27, Professor Shen Wenjiang, Lifetime Honorary Professor of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Peking University Health Science Center and Standing Committee Member of the Radiation Oncology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, visited the Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center to conduct regular clinical consultations, ward rounds, and academic guidance. As a leading authority in China's field of radiation oncology, Professor Shen's presence at the center has not only introduced cutting-edge academic concepts and advanced diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, but also set new benchmarks for precision cancer treatment. His involvement marks the beginning of a new chapter in safeguarding public health.

Professor Shen Wenjiang has achieved remarkable accomplishments in the field of tumor radiotherapy, boasting extensive clinical experience and profound academic expertise. The second Chinese heavy ion tumor treatment system commenced clinical operations at the Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center on November 15, 2024, joining the first Chinese heavy ion treatment system. To date, the center has treated over 220 patients using both photon and heavy ion therapy, covering more than 50 disease types including lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, and glioblastoma.

The Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center has established an exceptional talent system featuring elite professionals, with an expert workstation led by 50 top authorities in the field, including Professor Shen Wenjiang, Lifetime Honorary Professor of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Peking University Health Science Center, and Professor Xu Bo, Standing Committee Member of the Radiation Oncology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association. Professor Wang Junjie, Chairman of the Radiation Oncology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, serves as the center's president, providing robust technical support for heavy ion therapy.

Aiming to create a comprehensive, full-life-cycle tumor treatment system, the hospital has established departments including Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology/Hematology, Surgical Oncology, Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Oncology Rehabilitation, Critical Care Medicine, Digestive Endoscopy Center, Imaging, Laboratory Medicine, and Ultrasonography. It offers a full range of treatments such as photon radiotherapy, chemotherapy, heavy ion therapy, and integrated medical and surgical approaches.
