--Successful Inauguration of Wuwei Vocational College Teaching Hospital at Our Institution

On September 30, the unveiling ceremony of the Teaching Hospital of Wuwei Vocational College was successfully held at the Heavy Ion Therapy Campus of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital. Attending the ceremony were Wang Hong, Party Committee Secretary of Wuwei Vocational College; Zhang Kaili, Deputy Party Committee Secretary and President of Wuwei Vocational College; Zhai Cunxiang, Deputy Party Committee Secretary of Wuwei Vocational College; Zhang Weihong, Party Committee Secretary of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital; Ye Yancheng, President of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital; Guan Zhaoyu, Vice President of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital; and Nie Peng, Vice President of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital. More than 100 participants attended the ceremony, including staff representatives from Wuwei Vocational College and teaching faculty from Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital.

The affiliation between Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital and Wuwei Vocational College as a teaching hospital marks another significant milestone, following recent achievements including the official commissioning of Treatment Chambers 3 and 4 at the Wuwei Heavy Ion Center, the successful treatment of over 1,500 patients, and the commencement of photon therapy services at the Lanzhou Branch of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital. This development signifies substantial progress in medical technology advancement, campus collaboration, integration of medical education and clinical practice, and talent cultivation. Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital will prioritize teaching excellence, strictly adhering to teaching hospital standards by providing: A robust organizational management system, A highly qualified faculty team, Comprehensive teaching facilities. These commitments will ensure strong support for clinical teaching practice. In recent years, Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital has proactively aligned with national strategies and regional economic-social development needs, committed to serving the region while based in Wuwei and extending its reach across Northwest China. The hospital has partnered with Wuwei Vocational College to cultivate talent for heavy ion therapy, leveraging their respective resources to develop high-level technical professionals in heavy ion-related fields and establishing itself as a national hub for heavy ion talent development. Significant progress has been made in clinical education, with the establishment of a state-of-the-art digital simulation training center. This facility supports comprehensive training programs, including: Basic and digital anatomy, Cardiac and peripheral interventional procedures, Traditional Chinese medicine meridian acupuncture, Various endoscopic simulation training, Multiple laparoscopic simulation training, ICU ward training, Operating room simulation training, Nursing and medical technical skills simulation. By focusing on national priorities and local strengths, the hospital accelerates the cultivation of professionals who can thrive in Wuwei, facilitates the transfer and commercialization of scientific achievements, and contributes to building a high-quality development framework driven by "dual engines" with "five growth poles." Currently, Wuwei Vocational College has enrolled 103 students in its Radiation Therapy Technology (Heavy Ion Specialization) program. This inauguration ceremony represents a significant measure to promote the implementation of the first proposed undergraduate program development, serves as a fundamental guarantee for fully implementing the "Healthy China" strategy and fostering sustainable development in the healthcare sector, and furthermore constitutes a concrete practice to align with the new trends of education and healthcare reform in the new era, deeply serve the accelerated development of Gansu Province's strategic emerging biopharmaceutical industry, implement the municipal government's efforts to advance the construction of "Healthy Wuwei," focus on building the heavy ion healthcare industrial park as a growth engine, and vigorously compose a new chapter of Wuwei-style modernization with Chinese characteristics.

After the meeting, Wang Hong, Party Committee Secretary of Wuwei Vocational College, Zhang Kaili, President and Deputy Party Committee Secretary of Wuwei Vocational College, Ye Yancheng, President of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital, and Zhang Weihong, Party Committee Secretary of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital, went to the meeting room at Wuwei East High-speed Railway Station to have an in-depth exchange and discussion with Professor Wang Zhiping, doctoral supervisor and senior education expert from the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University, on matters including the construction of specialties such as radiotherapy technology, procurement of experimental equipment, improvement of teaching quality, and faculty team building. This provided highly valuable and referential experience for the two sides to further carry out in-depth cooperation.
