The Wuwei Heavy Ion Center of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital is the birthplace of domestically produced heavy ion therapy systems and is hailed in the industry as the "Jinggangshan" of ion radiotherapy. The first domestically manufactured heavy ion device was officially put into clinical use on March 26, 2020. On November 15, 2024, the second domestic heavy ion system began clinical operations, managed by Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital. To date, over 2,000 patients have been treated here, with patients coming from all provinces and municipalities across China, as well as attracting patients from Australia, Belgium, South Korea, Malaysia, and other countries seeking treatment.
