Planting Phoenix Trees Far and Wide to Gather Talents and Flourish Careers

--The Path to Talent Cultivation Based on the High-Quality Development of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital

On November 15, the "Gansu Recruits Talents, Gansu Gathers Elites" talent introduction promotion conference for Gansu Province's health sector was grandly held at Fudan University School of Medicine in Shanghai. During this event, Wuwei Cancer Hospital of Gansu Province received a total of 5 doctoral resumes (including one postdoctoral candidate), 27 master's resumes, with 2 doctors and 12 masters expressing interest.

In recent years, Wuwei Cancer Hospital of Gansu Province has implemented talent policies, upheld the Party's leadership in talent work, regarded talent resources as the primary resource, and pursued a strategy prioritizing talent development. With the goal of promoting high-quality growth, the hospital has integrated into the broader talent development framework, creating an "energy core" to support innovation and building a "reservoir" for talent reserves. Through measures such as improving personnel systems, the hospital has advanced the construction of a high-caliber talent pipeline, demonstrating genuine care for talent, meticulous cultivation, dedicated recruitment, and strategic utilization. By attracting outstanding professionals, the hospital is poised to write a new chapter of high-quality development on its journey through the new era, driven by its talent strategy.

Through trials and tribulations, success is forged. In the ancient city of Liangzhou, where time-honored history and modern civilization shine brilliantly together, a light has grown from faint to bright, surging through the ages, illuminating this golden hub along the Silk Road. Since its establishment in 1978, the hospital has transformed from the initial Wuwei County Tumor Research Institute into today’s national top-tier Class III-A specialized cancer hospital. The first Chinese heavy-ion therapy system took root here, the second set sail, and over 1,600 heavy-ion treatments have been completed... Wuwei Cancer Hospital of Gansu Province has undergone earth-shaking changes. A modern Class III-A comprehensive hospital integrating medical care, education, research, prevention, healthcare, and rehabilitation has risen from the land of Wuwei, writing a legend of creation from nothing. Along this journey, the hospital has continuously improved medical technology, optimized service quality, and strengthened talent development, delivering high-standard, high-quality medical services with stricter requirements, leaving resolute footprints on the path of safeguarding people’s lives and health.

Through the relentless efforts of generations, it has gradually built a unique and profound hospital culture.

How can medical staff work more efficiently while ensuring patients enjoy a better healthcare experience? Wuwei Cancer Hospital of Gansu Province has successfully resolved this seemingly impossible contradiction through its exceptional medical services, profound cultural heritage, and warm humanistic care, setting a benchmark for top-tier hospitals nationwide. The hospital promotes a positive and uplifting value system for all staff, embracing the work-life philosophy of "Happy Work, Happy Life," the service principle of "Single-Minded Dedication to Saving Lives," and the hospital anthem "The Sunshine of Love" trilogy. Together, these elements form the hospital's cultural system centered on "Compassion, Harmony, and Health."

The new era has endowed medical practitioners with new requirements and meanings for "virtue"—it is the patriotism that carries the weight of responsibility, the compassionate heart of a healer who empathizes with human suffering, the magnanimous demeanor of a noble person who is tolerant and forgiving, and the innovative spirit that seeks to reform and renew. Medical ethics education has been a cherished tradition passed down through generations at Wuwei Cancer Hospital of Gansu Province. The hospital actively advocates the management philosophy of "continuously refining medical skills, upholding noble and pure ethics, providing attentive service, and building a deeply rooted brand." Medical staff strive with diligence, rigor, hard work, and self-discipline, relentlessly pursuing excellence in medical exploration. They aim for precise diagnoses and flawless treatments, delivering high-quality care to patients.

The hospital has consistently upheld the leading role of the state and government in healthcare, striving toward the goal of becoming "a top-tier tumor specialty hospital in Gansu and a renowned institution in Northwest China—one with a strong hospital brand, distinctive departments, expert specialists, satisfied patients, contented staff, and government trust." Always bearing the responsibility of hospital development, social recognition, government confidence, and public satisfaction, the hospital remains true to its founding mission, forging ahead with determination to establish itself as a high-level center for cancer prevention and treatment at the earliest opportunity. With exceptional medical expertise, noble ethics, and heartfelt service, the hospital brings hope and warmth to patients, while simultaneously injecting powerful momentum into its own continuous progress and innovative development.

With its picturesque natural surroundings, cutting-edge medical equipment, and high-quality healthcare services, a modern hospital that embodies ecological harmony, humanistic care, and smart innovation is gracefully emerging before us.

In clinical practice, the hospital has developed three major branded diagnostic and treatment systems focusing on oncology, digestive system diseases, and cardiovascular diseases. It has established five provincial key disciplines: Oncology, Gastroenterology, Radiation Oncology, Gastrointestinal Surgery, and Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine; 13 municipal key disciplines including Cardiology, Hematology, Neurology, Thoracic Surgery, and the Oncology Discipline Cluster. The Radiation Oncology Department has entered the 3-year construction cycle of National Clinical Key Specialties, while the Oncology Department has passed the provincial on-site evaluation for clinical key disciplines. The hospital has been approved as a Provincial Model Stroke Prevention and Treatment Center (Comprehensive Stroke Center) and certified as a China Primary Chest Pain Center. These disciplinary achievements continue to drive the hospital's development.

The hospital fully leverages the "Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) holistic syndrome differentiation and treatment + heavy ion precision therapy" model to promote the physical and psychological rehabilitation of cancer patients, achieving comprehensive lifecycle health management for oncology patients. Beyond heavy ion cancer treatment technology, the Wuwei Heavy Ion Center has pioneered several advanced techniques and projects, including apnea-based precision radiotherapy, stem cell therapy, biomedical cell bank construction, multimodal three-dimensional medical imaging technology, and optimization and upgrading of medical heavy ion accelerator supporting facilities. These efforts are focused on forming a complete industrial chain for heavy ion projects.
