The first 3.0T large aperture radiotherapy and 256 row high-end diagnostic CT, which was put into clinical use in Lanzhou, is the internationally recognized core equipment of tumor radiotherapy. Among them, the 3.0T large aperture radiotherapy positioning MRI, with the high field strength and resolution, can clearly present the 3 D structure of the tumor lesion and the surrounding normal tissue, and provide the millimeter precision image support for radiotherapy target delineation; 256 row high-end diagnostic CT has the advantages of ultra-fast scanning and ultra-wide detector, which can complete the large range of imaging of the body in a very short time, significantly reduce the artifact of respiratory movement during patient examination, and ensure the accuracy and safety of radiotherapy positioning. The synergistic application of the two will greatly improve the personalized formulation ability of tumor radiotherapy plan, reduce the treatment side effects of patients, and improve the curative effect.

Create a new highland of regional tumor diagnosis and treatment

The Lanzhou Branch of Wuwei Cancer Hospital in Gansu Province, relying on the long-standing advantages in tumor specialties accumulated by the main hospital, officially began receiving heavy ion therapy patients on November 15, 2024. To date, it has completed treatments for over 260 patients, including 50 heavy ion therapy sessions. Wuwei Cancer Hospital is the only hospital in the world operating two heavy ion therapy systems. The first Chinese heavy ion therapy system was officially put into clinical use on March 26, 2020; the second Chinese heavy ion tumor therapy system was put into clinical use at the Lanzhou Branch of Wuwei Cancer Hospital on November 15, 2024. It features four treatment chambers: Chamber One for horizontal point scanning, Chamber Two for horizontal + vertical uniform scanning, Chamber Three for vertical point scanning, and Chamber Four for 45-degree uniform scanning.
