Driving Improvement Through Competition, Deepening Nursing Quality and Safety — The First Nursing Quality Improvement Case Competition In‑House Selection at Our Hospital Successfully Concludes

To thoroughly implement the overall nursing quality development goal of "driving improvement through enhancement and safeguarding safety through quality" at Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital, further advance the refined, standardized, and homogenized development of nursing work, address gaps in clinical nursing, strengthen the closed‑loop quality control system, continuously reinforce specialized nursing capabilities, build a solid defense line for patient safety, and optimize the healthcare service experience, the Lanzhou Campus of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital successfully held the in‑house preliminary selection for the First Nursing Quality Improvement Case Competition on September 21.

The competition presentation session then officially began. Participating teams from eight nursing stations across the campus took the stage in order determined by drawing lots. Grounded in the realities of specialized oncology clinical work, the teams focused on core nursing quality and safety priorities, addressing difficult issues, weak links, and service pain points in daily nursing practice. Combining specialty characteristics with clinical practice, they comprehensively demonstrated their routine measures and scientific improvement outcomes in nursing quality control, root cause analysis, process optimization and rectification, and the establishment of long‑term mechanisms — using real cases, precise data, and complete workflows. Each case was well‑documented, with clear improvement logic, practical measures, and significant closed‑loop results, fully demonstrating the rigorous and meticulous work style and pursuit of excellence of the campus nursing team.

After intense competition and rigorous evaluation, the nursing stations of the First Department of Radiotherapy, the Third Department of Radiotherapy, and the Fifth Department of Radiotherapy stood out with solid improvement outcomes, clear logical presentations, and clinically relevant innovative measures — successfully advancing to the hospital‑wide finals.

This nursing quality improvement case selection activity served as both a comprehensive review and concentrated assessment of the continuous improvement work in nursing quality at the Lanzhou Campus of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital, and as an excellent platform for departments to learn from one another, address shortcomings, and exchange ideas for enhancement. Going forward, our hospital will continue to anchor itself to the nursing quality development goals of the main campus, uphold the philosophy of "driving learning, improvement, and development through competition," and routinely advance continuous nursing quality improvement. We will deepen the substance of nursing services, refine the quality control system, and strengthen specialized service capabilities — building a solid patient safety barrier with higher standards, stricter requirements, and more practical measures, and continuously promoting the high‑quality development of nursing at the campus to provide patients with higher‑quality, safer, and more professional oncology nursing services.
