On August 22, the China Anti-Cancer Association (CACA) Standardized Tumor Hyperthermia Lecture Tour (Lanzhou Station), the Launch Ceremony of the Hyperthermia Center at Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital’s Lanzhou Campus, and the Symposium on Advanced Radiotherapy for Gynecologic Tumors were successfully held at the hospital’s Lanzhou campus.

Organized by the Gansu Anti-Cancer Association and hosted by Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital’s Lanzhou Campus, the conference brought together leading national experts in gynecologic oncology and tumor hyperthermia. The agenda focused on standardizing, refining, and advancing radiotherapy for gynecologic tumors, while promoting cutting-edge technologies such as heavy ion therapy and tumor hyperthermia. The goal was to enhance the region’s precision treatment capabilities and offer new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for gynecologic cancer patients in Western China.

The opening ceremony also marked the official launch of the Hyperthermia Center at the Lanzhou Campus. Wang Junjie, President of the Lanzhou Campus, Professor Chai Wenxiao of the Gansu Anti-Cancer Association, and Professor Wang Ruoyu of the Affiliated Zhongshan Hospital of Dalian University, along with other distinguished guests, delivered remarks at the launch. The opening was presided over by Qi Ying, Vice President of the Lanzhou Campus. The center’s inauguration signifies a major addition to the hospital’s comprehensive gynecologic oncology platform, further solidifying its "Heavy Ion + Hyperthermia" dual-technology framework. This initiative effectively fills a critical gap in standardized hyperthermia for gynecologic tumors in the region and bolsters the development of a comprehensive cancer care system in Western China.

During the lecture sessions, Professor Wang Junjie presented on New Subtypes and Treatment Strategies for Recurrent Uterine Cancer, offering in-depth insights into classification innovations and clinical approaches. Professor Chen Jinfei, Chairman of the CACA Hyperthermia Committee and professor at the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University, discussed the theory and practice of tumor hyperthermia within the MDT-HIM (Multidisciplinary Team – Holistic Integrated Medicine) framework. Professor Xiao Shaowen, Chairman of the CSCO Hyperthermia Committee and professor at Beijing Cancer Hospital, shared clinical experiences in hyperthermia-integrated treatments for advanced malignancies. Professor Wang Ruoyu explored the mechanisms by which hyperthermia promotes immune responses in "cold tumors," while Professor Wang Dongfeng from Hanzhong 3201 Hospital in Shaanxi systematically reviewed the clinical protocols for hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC).

Provincial experts, including Professor Ma Juanwen from Lanzhou Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Professor Du Lanning (Distinguished Professor at the Lanzhou Branch), Professor Ma Yan from the First Hospital of Lanzhou University, Professor Zhao Fengju (Director of the Second Radiotherapy Department at the Lanzhou Branch), and Professor Qi Ying, delivered presentations on topics ranging from gynecologic surgical oncology and carbon-ion clinical trials for cervical and breast cancers to the 2026 annual progress in cervical cancer radiotherapy, 3D brachytherapy with interstitial needle implantation, and real-world carbon-ion cases. These sessions highlighted local clinical practices and showcased the practical achievements of heavy ion technology in gynecologic oncology within Gansu Province.

In recent years, leveraging its heavy ion center, Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital’s Lanzhou Campus has deeply cultivated multidisciplinary comprehensive cancer care. By integrating heavy ion precision radiotherapy, tumor hyperthermia, gynecologic surgical oncology, and brachytherapy, the hospital has established a comprehensive "Frontier Technology + Standardized Care + Full-Cycle Management" model. This approach continues to explore treatment pathways tailored to patients in Western China. The launch of the Hyperthermia Center and the concurrent academic symposium represent the dual realization of platform development and academic outreach, enhancing the hospital's hyperthermia capabilities while building a vital bridge for collaboration among gynecologic and hyperthermia experts nationwide.

Looking ahead, the Lanzhou Campus will use this conference as a catalyst to further standardize and implement cutting-edge technologies like heavy ion radiotherapy and tumor hyperthermia. The hospital remains committed to refining its full-chain gynecologic oncology system, strengthening regional academic exchanges, and supporting grassroots technical training. By extending advanced medical concepts and technologies across Gansu, the hospital aims to provide high-quality, precise, and diversified medical services to gynecologic cancer patients in Western China, thereby driving the high-quality development of cancer care in the province.
