On-the-Frontline Action in Tuberculosis Prevention and Control!
As the 30th anniversary "World Tuberculosis Day" approaches, Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital responded to the national call of "Comprehensive Action, Full Commitment, Universal Participation, and Ending Tuberculosis." Today, a large-scale free public health clinic was held in Xijiao Park. Led by Li Zhengguo, Director of the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine of the hospital, this activity united an expert team from multiple disciplines to provide citizens with free consultation, screening, and health education services on tuberculosis and respiratory diseases, helping to enhance the public's awareness of tuberculosis prevention and control.

The Activity Focuses on Tuberculosis Prevention and Control, with an Expert Team Providing On-site Support
As a major global public health challenge, tuberculosis still poses a severe prevention and control situation in China, especially in the western regions. Pulmonary tuberculosis cases in Gansu Province has long ranked second among Class A and Class B notifiable infectious diseases, and the prevention and control task is arduous. In response to this, Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital has leveraged its expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases. It organized experts from multiple fields, including the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine and the Department of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, to participate in the free clinic.
At the activity site, Director Li Zhengguo led the team to provide citizens with services such as the identification of early symptoms of tuberculosis, standardized treatment, and pharmacotherapy guidance. They also conducted preliminary screenings for suspected symptoms such as chronic cough, chest pain, and hemoptysis. Director Li Zhengguo emphasized: "Early detection, early diagnosis, and early treatment of tuberculosis are the keys to controlling its spread. The public needs to be vigilant against symptoms such as persistent cough and low-grade fever, seek medical attention in a timely manner, and complete the whole-course standardized treatment."

Deeply Rooted in the Field of Respiratory Diseases, Promoting Comprehensive Diagnosis and Treatment of Tuberculosis
As the leader of the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital, Director Li Zhengguo has long been committed to the clinical research, diagnosis, and treatment of respiratory diseases and tuberculosis. He is proficient in the comprehensive treatment of complex respiratory tract infections and multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and has accumulated extensive clinical experience in the differential diagnosis between lung cancer and tuberculosis. In recent years, he has taken the lead in promoting multidisciplinary cooperation (MDT) among the hospital's respiratory department, radiation oncology, and traditional Chinese medicine field, providing personalized treatment plans for tuberculosis patients and significantly improving the cure rate.
During this free clinic, Director Li Zhengguo also specifically explained difficult cases of tuberculosis comorbid with malignancies, emphasizing that "there are overlapping symptoms between tuberculosis and malignant tumors, and accurate detection is required to distinguish them to avoid misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis." In addition, the hospital simultaneously carried out public health education campaign, popularizing knowledge about the home management of tuberculosis, nutritional support, and prevention of its spread to the citizens.

Taking the World Tuberculosis Day as an opportunity, Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital has demonstrated the social responsibility of a public hospital through the free clinic and targeted awareness campaigns. The professional services of Director Li Zhengguo and his team have not only provided practical help to patients but also promoted widespread attention to tuberculosis prevention and control in the whole society, injecting solid strength into the goal of "ending the tuberculosis epidemic."
