Holistic Care, Compassionate Support – Psychosocial Oncology Training & Standardized Intervention Workshop Held at Our Hospital

In the peak of summer, when all things flourish, the Psychosocial Oncology Nursing Seminar and Standardized Training Workshop on Psychological Intervention and Supportive Therapy for Cancer Patients, hosted by Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital, was successfully held on July 9 in Conference Room 1 at the Heavy Ion Campus. The event was organized to advance the Healthy China strategy and the requirements for whole‑course cancer care management, and to enhance the psychological nursing competence and practical intervention skills of healthcare professionals caring for cancer patients.

The conference was chaired by Guo Yumei, Director of Nursing. Professor Jiang Mengxiao and Professor Chi Ting from the Gansu Hospital of Sun Yat‑sen University Cancer Center delivered systematic lectures on cultivating nursing research thinking and on clinical practice guidelines for psychosocial oncology. The content covered research topic design, psychological screening and assessment throughout the disease trajectory, graded intervention approaches, and standards for doctor‑patient communication. The sessions provided authoritative theoretical foundations and practical guidance for implementing standardized psychosocial care in clinical settings. The lectures addressed key clinical challenges and were closely aligned with current disciplinary advances, creating a vibrant academic atmosphere.

Psychology is not only a science that heals the mind, but also a bridge that connects the emotions between doctors and patients. In the subsequent Psychosocial Oncology Case Practice Workshop, our hospital's psychotherapist, Wu Xuesheng, first presented a real clinical case. Professor Chi Ting then provided professional feedback, helping participants clearly identify operational weaknesses. Professor Chi delivered systematic instruction and led on‑site practice sessions covering the fundamentals of psychological counseling, core clinical priorities, and common practical challenges. The content was grounded in real‑world experience and provided practical guidance for our hospital to deliver standardized, professional psychological services.

It further standardized psychosocial intervention procedures in the region and strengthened the humanistic care system. Our hospital will continue to deepen the routine implementation of psychosocial nursing, accelerate the dissemination of standardized intervention techniques to grassroots institutions, and enhance the collaborative mechanisms integrating psychological and physical care. Through professional and compassionate psychosocial nursing practice, we aim to contribute to the development of a "Healthy Gansu," using warmth to heal the mind and humanistic care to accompany every patient on their cancer journey with dignity and resilience.
