Academic Excellence Driving Standardized Care: 2026 Provincial Symposium on Radiotherapy Nutrition Management Convenes at Our Hospital
To advance the principle of “Healthy China: Nutrition First” and implement Gansu Province’s nutrition initiatives, the 2026 Provincial Symposium on Standardized Radiotherapy Nutrition Management and Clinical Practice was successfully held on July 4. Hosted by the Oncology Nutrition Branch of the Gansu Nutrition Society and organized by Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital, the conference convened leading clinicians specializing in radiotherapy, clinical nutrition, and medical oncology from across the province. Discussions centered on standardizing nutritional care throughout the cancer treatment continuum, aimed at elevating regional clinical capabilities.

During the opening ceremony, remarks were delivered by Ye Yancheng, President of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital, and Wang Yu, Chairman of the Gansu Nutrition Society. A highlight of the event was the official launch of the Standardized Radiotherapy Nutrition Wardinitiative. Led by Ma Youguo, Director of the First Radiotherapy Department at our hospital, the project will oversee ward development, protocol design, and operational management—addressing critical gaps in regional radiotherapy nutrition services.

Blending quality control standards, expert lectures, multidisciplinary roundtables, and case studies, the conference established a vital provincial platform for oncology nutrition professionals. It underscored the pivotal role of comprehensive nutritional management and standardized intervention within integrated cancer care.

Our hospital’s nutrition discipline has long prioritized the full-spectrum needs of radiotherapy patients. We have built a robust service chain encompassing pre-treatment nutritional risk screening, personalized peri-radiotherapy interventions, post-treatment rehabilitation guidance, dysphagia-specific nutritional support, therapeutic diets, integrative medicine approaches, and immunonutrition. This framework facilitates a transition from purely antitumor strategies toward synergistic models incorporating nutritional support. Through refined, standardized, and individualized management, we have developed a regional benchmark department for standardized radiotherapy nutrition—safeguarding recovery for oncology patients across Gansu.

Nutrition is not merely supportive—it is therapeutic. Building on this symposium, we are committed to translating academic advances into tangible patient benefits. As the Standardized Radiotherapy Nutrition Ward progresses, we will continue championing the “Nutrition First” philosophy. Through precise, individualized nutritional interventions, we aim to tangibly enhance quality of life for cancer patients, ensuring standardized nutritional care remains a steadfast pillar in their journey toward healing.
