National Experts Gather in Liangzhou for First Wuwei Critical Care & Tumor Critical Care Symposium

In the ancient Silk Road city of Liangzhou, under the summer sun, the First Academic Annual Meeting of the Wuwei Clinical Research Center for Critical Care Medicine and the Tianma Tumor Critical Care Symposium, jointly organized by the Gansu Wuwei Academy of Medical Sciences and the Wuwei Clinical Research Center for Critical Care Medicine, concluded successfully on June 18 at the Heavy Ion Campus of Wuwei Cancer Hospital. The event brought together leading national experts in critical care medicine, provincial academic leaders, and frontline critical care specialists from the Hexi region. The program featured keynote academic presentations, a young researchers' exchange session, and hands‑on clinical training, creating a high‑level, specialized platform for mutual learning and exchange in the field of critical care.

The academic event proceeded in excellent order, with a vibrant and engaging atmosphere of discussion and exchange.

A dedicated Young Researchers' Forum was held simultaneously in a parallel session during the morning. Young clinicians including Zhao Wenxue, Song Runhua, and Sun Yunfei presented their ICU‑related clinical research projects. Expert mentors provided one‑on‑one guidance on research design, statistical analysis, and manuscript writing, addressing practical challenges in clinical research faced by grassroots institutions.

In the final segment, a hands‑on critical care skills training session was conducted. Led by Director Li Lingxiao and Attending Physician Chen Yan from the Department of Critical Care Medicine of Wuwei Liangzhou Hospital, Attending Physician Lu Huqiang from Wuwei People's Hospital, and Attending Physician Zhao Wenxue from our hospital's Department of Critical Care Medicine, the training focused on core critical care techniques including mechanical ventilation, point‑of‑care ultrasound, and ECMO. Through step‑by‑step practical instruction, the session helped translate cutting‑edge theoretical knowledge into tangible clinical skills.

The conference concluded successfully, offering a high‑level academic feast for critical care professionals in Wuwei and the surrounding Hexi region, while also marking a solid new step forward for the Wuwei Clinical Research Center for Critical Care Medicine in advancing discipline quality and regional collaborative development.

As a municipal‑level key discipline and the municipal clinical research center for critical care medicine, the Department of Critical Care Medicine at Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital will take this academic symposium as a new starting point. Staying true to the founding mission of medical scholarship, the department will continue to collaborate with top national medical resources to jointly promote sustained progress and vibrant development in regional critical care medicine.
