• Editorial Board Member of Technology in Cancer Research & Treatment

• Specializes in radiation oncology, with deep expertise in stereotactic radiotherapy (SBRT/SRS), interventional radiotherapy, and brachytherapy.  

• Main research focuses include the comprehensive treatment of oligometastatic tumors, as well as urological, gynecological, liver, and central nervous system tumors.  

Clinical and Academic Experience

• Former Deputy Head of the Brachytherapy Department and Senior Radiation Oncologist at the Lublin Regional Oncology Center.  

• Served as a visiting scholar at the European Institute of Oncology (Milan, Italy).  

• Long-term collaboration with multiple hospice and palliative care institutions, offering extensive experience in holistic cancer management throughout the disease trajectory.  

Academic Organization Involvement

• Member of international authoritative societies, including the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO), the International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society (ISRS), and the European Association of Neuro-Oncology (EANO).

Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital

The Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital is the second clinically operational heavy ion center in China with independent intellectual property rights, operated by Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital. In partnership with the first domestically developed heavy ion treatment system, the second Chinese heavy ion tumor therapy system commenced clinical operations at the Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center on November 15, 2024. To date, the center has completed heavy ion and photon treatments for over 400 patients, covering diseases such as lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, and glioblastoma.

The center has established an elite and exceptional talent system, forming expert workstations led by 50 industry-leading authorities, including Shen Wenjiang, Lifetime Honorary Professor of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Peking University Health Science Center, and Professor Xu Bo, Standing Committee Member of the Chinese Medical Association's Radiation Oncology Branch. Under the leadership of Professor Wang Junjie, Chairman of the Chinese Medical Association's Radiation Oncology Branch and President of the center, it provides robust technical support for heavy ion therapy.

Simultaneously, the center is equipped with a series of cutting-edge radiotherapy devices, including the Varian VitalBeam medical linear accelerator, Elekta Infinity four-dimensional image-guided linear accelerator, 3.0T simulation positioning MRI, GE 256-slice high-end CT, and Varian Iridium-192 imported afterloader. These advanced hardware facilities lay a solid foundation for heavy ion therapy, ensuring efficiency and precision throughout the treatment process.

Aiming to build a comprehensive, lifelong cancer treatment system, the center has established departments such as Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology/Hematology, Surgical Oncology, Integrative Oncology Rehabilitation, Minimally Invasive Intervention Center, Intensive Care Unit, and Digestive Endoscopy Center. It offers a wide range of treatments, including heavy ion radiotherapy, photon radiotherapy, chemotherapy, minimally invasive interventional therapy, and integrated medical and surgical treatments.

The hospital is equipped with advanced medical diagnostic technologies and devices, featuring departments such as Imaging, Laboratory Medicine, Ultrasound Medicine, Blood Bank, and Hematology Center Laboratory. These departments provide CT/MRI imaging diagnostics, medical laboratory testing, ultrasound diagnostics and interventional treatments, and bone marrow cytomorphology examinations to meet patients' diagnostic needs.

The Minimally Invasive Intervention Center is outfitted with devices such as the radioactive I125 seed brachytherapy system, body implant navigation and positioning system, GE digital subtraction angiography machine, microwave coagulation therapy instrument, and argon-helium cryoablation system. These tools enable precise treatments for cancer patients through embolization, ablation, and brachytherapy.
