Islands and Oceans in Life: Finding Stillness Amidst Change
Islands and Oceans in Life: Finding Stillness Amidst Change
— A Support Group for the Physical and Mental Healing of Cancer Patients (Now Recruiting)
On this voyage of battling illness, do you ever feel like you are facing a turbulent ocean alone?
The uncertainties about the future, the sleepless nights, or the unspoken loneliness can feel like sudden storms.
But remember: even in the vastest ocean, there are islands that offer rest, replenishment, and direction.
The Heavy Ion Rehabilitation Department sincerely invites you to join this group activity led by our specially invited experts. Here, there is no judgment—only understanding; no solitary struggle—only the gentle light of mutual support.
Together, we will experience:
- Building a Safe Harbor: Based on confidentiality and respect, we will use the “Three Objects” metaphor to identify the “storms” and “safe harbors” in our lives.
- Exploring the Inner Ocean: Guided by a psychosomatic medicine expert, we will scientifically understand how emotions affect sleep and the body, allowing stress to be released in a positive way.
- Mind-Body Connection Experience: Learn mindfulness breathing and body scanning, and use simple hypnotic relaxation techniques to ease anxiety and care for the body.
- Charting a Course: Shift focus from “illness” to “values,” and identify a small yet firm action to take in the coming week.

Our Vision
- This activity is not about solving all medical problems, but about planting seeds of connection, awareness, and hope. May we all remember the islands within ourselves in our own oceans, and see each other as guiding lights.
- “Illness often draws our attention like a magnet, but we can gently turn the light toward the people and things that truly matter.”
