Recognize Early, Seek Immediate Medical Attention
October 29, 2025, marks the 20th "World Stroke Day." This year's theme is "Recognize Early, Seek Immediate Medical Attention." The First Internal Medicine Party Branch of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital, in conjunction with the Bulaosong Health Management Center, conducted a unique free clinic event. Experts from the Neurology Department, Traditional Chinese Medicine Department, Orthopedics Department, Stomatology Department, Urology Department, and other departments jointly provided services such as disease diagnosis and treatment, health consultations, chronic disease management guidance, cerebrovascular disease cause screening, and blood pressure/blood sugar testing. They used professional expertise to build a strong health defense line. Through vivid science popularization, they embedded the concept that "stroke is preventable and treatable" deeply into people's hearts.

What is a Stroke?
Stroke, commonly known as a "brain attack," is an acute cerebrovascular disease. It mainly includes two major types: ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke. It is the leading cause of death and disability among adults in China. It is characterized by high incidence, high mortality, high disability rate, and high recurrence rate.
How to Quickly Identify Early Stroke?

Treatment for Acute Cerebral Infarction
The primary goals of early treatment for cerebral infarction are the reperfusion of the ischemic brain tissue and the rapid recanalization of the occluded blood vessel. Intravenous thrombolysis and arterial thrombectomy are currently the most important reperfusion therapies. Intravenous thrombolysis involves injecting clot-dissolving drugs into a vein to reopen the blocked blood vessel and restore normal blood and oxygen supply to the brain. Arterial thrombectomy uses an interventional method, employing special devices to directly remove the blocking clot, allowing the brain tissue to regain blood supply.
"Time is Brain." The optimal time window for intravenous thrombolysis in cerebral infarction is within 4.5 hours of onset, and for arterial thrombectomy, it is within 6 hours.
