Collaboration · Synergy · Progress: A Multidisciplinary Professional Learning and Joint Case Study & Ward Round Documentation for Special Units

Activity Background and Significance

To comprehensively enhance the specialized capabilities of the special care unit team and establish a multidimensional management system for acute, critical, and complex cases, on August 25, 2025, Nurse Supervisor Chu Xiaoxia of the Special Care Unit led an interdisciplinary professional learning, case discussion, and joint nursing rounds activity. With the core objectives of "multidisciplinary collaboration, resource sharing, and targeted interventions," the event aimed to create a more efficient and patient-centered medical care service loop through experience sharing and collaborative innovation. In her summary, Nurse Supervisor Chu Xiaoxia stated: "The conditions of patients in the special unit are complex and urgent. Interdisciplinary collaboration is not just a responsibility but an essential choice for safeguarding lives."

1. Integration of Clinical Practice and Theory: Nursing Ward Round Records

In the case study titled "Nursing Rounds for a Patient Undergoing Laparoscopic Thyroidectomy," the teachers analyzed the case from their respective specialized perspectives:

Preoperative Assessment: The ICU team emphasized the risks of anesthesia and the preparation plan for airway management.

Postoperative Care: The operating room team shared key points for the meticulous maintenance of drainage tubes after minimally invasive surgery.

Continuing Care: The department proposed a home monitoring and complication early-warning plan for patients after discharge.

In the case discussion on "A Patient with Cardiac Malignant Tumor Complicated by Cerebral Infarction, Cerebral Hemorrhage, and Pulmonary Infection," this case discussion not only enhanced the comprehensive nursing capabilities of the nursing staff for patients with multiple coexisting systemic diseases but also further advanced the construction of a collaborative mechanism among various departments within the special care unit. Nurse Supervisor Chu Xiaoxia summarized by saying: "Faced with complex medical conditions, nursing work must not only be 'highly professional' but also 'strongly collaborative.' Only through multidisciplinary coordination and information sharing can we provide the safest and most effective care for patients."

2. Deepening and Prospects of Multidisciplinary Collaboration

In her concluding remarks, Nurse Supervisor Chu Xiaoxia outlined three core directions:

Institutionalized Collaboration: Using this seminar as a starting point, she proposed establishing regular multidisciplinary joint rounds and case discussion mechanisms to strengthen interdepartmental information sharing and resource integration.

Capability Enhancement: Through approaches such as complex case discussions and nursing rounds, the focus would be on improving the special care unit team's ability to rapidly respond to and precisely manage challenging cases.

Standardization Development: She emphasized developing standardized protocols for the special care unit, leveraging data-driven approaches (such as monitoring nursing-sensitive indicators and analyzing adverse events) to drive continuous quality improvement.

In the name of collaboration, we weave the web of life

"Every collision of multidisciplinary expertise is an act of reverence for life; every deepened collaboration is a commitment to duty." The special care unit team has woven a comprehensive "safety net" encompassing emergency care, intensive monitoring, and continuous nursing with professionalism and dedication. Moving forward, this team of nurses, known for their rapid response and precise interventions, will continue to explore innovative models, ensuring technological precision goes hand in hand with humanistic care to safeguard patients' health and well-being.
