On January 12, Professor Chen Yalin, an authoritative radiotherapy expert from the Radiotherapy Department of Peking University People’s Hospital, officially joined the Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center of Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital in a regular resident mode. This initiative signifies the deep integration of top domestic radiotherapy expert resources, injecting core momentum into the radiotherapy discipline of the center. It not only facilitates a leap in clinical service capabilities but also exemplifies the hospital’s philosophy of "making high-quality medical resources accessible and integrating expert services into daily patient care" through the innovative model of "Chief Specialist Resident Consultations."

As an authoritative expert in the field of tumor radiotherapy, Professor Chen Yalin has dedicated many years to this domain, accumulating profound expertise in precision radiotherapy and multidisciplinary comprehensive treatment for malignancies such as postoperative radiotherapy for breast cancer, radiotherapy for gastrointestinal tumors, and radiotherapy for hematologic tumors, forming distinct technical strengths. He serves as a Standing Committee Member of several authoritative academic organizations, including the Precision Radiotherapy Technology Branch of the Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering and the Multidisciplinary Diagnosis and Treatment Branch for Tumors of the Geriatric Health Association. He also holds dual roles as a Standing Committee Member of the Head and Neck Tumor and Gastrointestinal Tumor MDT Committees of the Beijing Cancer Prevention and Control Society. With his extensive clinical experience and professional influence, he provides robust support for standardized cancer diagnosis and treatment, earning widespread recognition in the industry.

During ward rounds, Professor Chen leveraged the advantages of carbon ion therapy technology at the Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center to provide professional guidance for multidisciplinary comprehensive treatment plans for tumors. His approach, which organically integrates traditional precision radiotherapy with cutting-edge heavy ion technology, has opened new pathways for clinical practice. He also offered specialized diagnostic and treatment guidance for complex cases, analyzing patient imaging data case by case, clarifying the progression of their conditions, and collaborating with the team to dynamically adjust treatment strategies. This ensures that every cancer patient receives high-quality medical services on par with international standards.

In recent years, Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital has achieved significant milestones in promoting the Heavy Ion Treatment Alliance and establishing 50 expert workstations. As the only hospital globally operating two heavy ion therapy systems simultaneously, Gansu Wuwei Cancer Hospital remains committed to the continuous development and innovation of cancer treatment technologies. The Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center is the second domestically developed heavy ion clinical application center operated by the hospital. This system commenced clinical operations at the Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center on November 15, 2024. To date, the center has completed photon and heavy ion treatments for over 400 patients, covering conditions such as lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, and gliomas.

Professor Chen Yalin’s regular residency is another manifestation of the Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center’s commitment to the philosophy of "gathering global cutting-edge technologies to benefit cancer patients worldwide." The center not only actively introduces internationally leading heavy ion therapy technologies with an open and inclusive attitude, building bridges for transnational academic exchanges and engaging in deep technical dialogues and experience sharing with top experts from Japan, Germany, and other countries, but also, with a pragmatic and dedicated spirit, vigorously integrates domestic authoritative clinical expert resources. Through regular ward round guidance and personalized consultation services, the center promotes the standardization of clinical practices and the homogenization of diagnostic and treatment levels, continuously deepening disciplinary development to illuminate the path of life for cancer patients.
