Hospice care represents the ultimate expression of medical humanities, focusing on building a comprehensive care system for patients in the terminal stages of illness and their families. It employs professional methods to alleviate physical suffering and provides warm support to address psychological and emotional needs, using both science and compassion to safeguard the dignity and quality of life in its final stages. Guided by this core philosophy, minimally or non-invasive cutting-edge technologies, such as heavy ion radiotherapy, offer reliable clinical options for terminal cancer patients by delaying disease progression and improving living conditions. These technologies serve as a solid support within the hospice care system, combining technical strength with humanistic warmth.

Leveraging the technical advantage of “precise tumor targeting while protecting healthy tissues,” the Wuwei Heavy Ion Center adheres to the principle of “technology as the foundation, humanism as the soul.” Integrating international standards with local practices, the center has established a full-cycle health management system encompassing “prevention-treatment-rehabilitation,” extending services to details such as physical and mental health, sleep quality, and emotional counseling. By expanding the indications for heavy ion therapy, optimizing treatment plans, and accumulating follow-up data, the center practices “comprehensive whole-life-cycle health management.” It combines ten health dimensions to form an integrated health model, aligning with the core purpose of hospice care. This approach promotes a shift in cancer diagnosis and treatment towards “quality survival,” offering terminal patients hope for a life that is effective, quality-driven, and dignified, highlighting the contemporary value of integrating technology and humanism.

In the future, building on this solid foundation, the hospital will undertake the important responsibility of enhancing the quality of hospice care services throughout the city. Efforts will be dedicated to establishing sound scientific quality control standards and evaluation systems to promote systematic and standardized services. Additionally, the hospital will focus on building a multidisciplinary collaborative team that integrates medical, nursing, psychological, social work, and volunteer resources. This will provide comprehensive support for patients and their families, ranging from physical care and psychological support to grief counseling and social assistance.
