Radiotherapy Department I (Lanzhou Branch) was established on October 28, 2024, under the provincial "Strengthening the Capital City" initiative. It integrates medical care, teaching, and research, focusing on carbon-ion therapy technology. As a national key discipline construction unit, the department specializes in carbon-ion research and clinical application. Leveraging the unique physical and biological advantages of carbon-ion radiotherapy, it treats tumors across the body, with expertise in lung cancer, esophageal cancer, thymoma, breast cancer, bone and soft tissue sarcomas, adenoid cystic carcinoma, and other refractory malignancies. The department combines carbon-ion therapy with targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and chemotherapy for comprehensive treatment.

Li Xiaojun, Chief Physician, Vice President of Lanzhou Heavy Ion Center, member of the Youth Committee of the Chinese Society of Radiotherapy Oncology, and recipient of provincial honors like "Gansu Outstanding Young Talent." With 18 years of experience, he specializes in photon and carbon-ion radiotherapy for CNS, head/neck, thoracic, abdominal, and skeletal tumors. He has treated over 700 patients with carbon-ion therapy, contributed to 5 textbooks, published 10+ SCI papers, and holds 10+ patents.
